K/R: from the holiday sales

I'd love to get your opinion on a couple of things I ordered after Christmas--before my return window closes. The first is the Athleta long sleeve dress and the second is the BR funnel neck sweater. A couple WIWs with different toppers too. Thanks in advance!

Hmm, I like both your WIWs better than the new pieces. The dress is slightly too body con for me (but I am an extremist with this so take with a grain of salt). The pullover seems to overwhelm you, whereas the poncho in #4 looks terrific. Please disregard if you love either one!

Great WIWs. I like the sweater but I'm not sure it's the best color on you. And the dress is slightly weird in the bottom half (ha, that's technical!).

I like the new pieces. They are both just a little different for you, yet still very much your style. The dress is bodycon, as shevia points out, and yet I find it rather modest as bodycon goes, because of the ruching and the loose-fitting top, and the length. I find it very flattering on you and love it with those boots. It's very cute with the furry vest, too.
The pullover is different because it's boxy and long, whereas you often wear boxy and short pieces (and totally rock them). I think this slightly different silhouette is just as fab on you. And I love the zip detail at the neck.
3 and 4 are super outfits, too. You have the best boot collection--your boots really lend so much class and interest to each outfit.

Kelly, I am wondering if the dress is supposed to be worn like that or worn sort of "bloused" at the top. That would make it shorter, of course. I could be totally off base, but to me it looks as if it is "pulled down" in front a bit (on the top portion). I think it's an interesting colour and I know from my similar BR dress that it might be super versatile. I am not 100% sure that I love it, but I find it intriguing and I have a feeling you could really make good use of it. It's quirky and fun with the furry vest, and of course your boots are always brilliant!

I'm somehow not in love with the sweater; it feels a bit large and overwhelming. The poncho, on the other hand, is just fabulous on you!

Love your vest over the flannel. I like the dress -- I prefer the fit on you to others I've seen it on. Don't care for the sweater .

I'm not wild about either. The dress, while flattering, just has too much rouching for me. It seems odd that it is super ruched at the bottom and totally smooth on top, and it's a really abrupt transition that looks really awkward to me.

The sweater seems overwhelming, and I don't care for the color.

I like both of your WIWs much better! I think you might be Queen Poncho!

Thanks so much, Fabbers! Your input is always so helpful. These things have been sitting around for awhile. Usually, if I love something, I am motivated to post them right away because I can't wait to wear them. Clearly not the case here and I think most of you are just as "meh" about them as I am. Thank you for helping me see past the sale prices!

@Firecracker and Suz: Thank you. I do think the dress has potential. I think you are right, Suz, it is suppose to be a little blouson on top but I pulled it down for length. It is close to what I was looking for but after looking at the pics, I think it's too fussy and that the fit just isn't quite right. As for the sweater, I LOVED it when I tried it on. Then, I took a picture and it didn't look the way I thought it did on me--those straight hems do nothing for me! I'd much rather wear a poncho!

The group wisdom of YLF comes through again! For what it's worth, I thought the color of the dress was very flattering on you. And I love your WIW's. You wear ponchos with the best of them!

The dress had great potential, but the rushing seems a little low doesn't it. I love the way you styled it though.

Kelly - I actually really like your overall look in #2 with the sweater, though I agree with comment about color. I bet you could get a similar, perhaps slightly-less-oversized comfy sweater in a color that is amazing on you and this crowd will roar!
I want to like that Athleta dress but I think you made the right choice. It is good to take off our sale goggles, with the help of our YLF friends, and it is even better to take photos and really see what things look like!

I ordered that dress from the sale too, after seeing it in the store and not trying it on. Looked sooo cute. Fastforward to January, couldn't get it back to the store quick enough. I very rarely order clothing and this is the last time.
