K/R: Free People embroidered jeans UPDATE: More pics added

I finally found some embroidered jeans that tickled my fancy, so I pounced. But I'm not sure of the fit. I have a curvy behind, and a lot of jeans don't fit me well. I have difficulty with excess material around the crotch area. If I size down, the wrinkling is reduced in the front, but the rear view looks too tight (there's not much left to the imagination!). What do you think of the fit on these? Is there too much wrinkling in the front? Is the back view still too tight? (The next size up is not available.)

ETA: For comparison, I'm showing pictures of the size down in a slightly different style (pics 4-5). I think that the front view is better, but the back view seems too tight.

ETA2: I've added full-length front views of the two styles of jeans in the smaller size (pics 6-7). The jeans in pic 6 feel more comfortable than those in pic 7, but the fading is off a bit because I am short (the fading extends past the knee). Which pair do you think looks better?

They look fine to me. Jeans always stretch out on me except in very rare situations. Have you worn them around for a bit?

They're very pretty. I think that size is great, look fine in the front and just pleasantly snug in the back. Pic 5 does look too tight.

I think the fit of the first pair works. Are they OK around the waist? They look good on you. I am glad to have a fellow embroidery fan.

I think it may come down to how they feel. I know if I feel like jeans are too tight, they bother me all day, even though they might look ok!

I agree completely with your assessment--I like the darker wash? in the second pair, but it does seem snug. It's not a huge difference, though, and you'll be able to address it with styling, I'm sure.

I prefer the second pair. Better fit in front. Both jeans fit the same in the back. NICE.

I would go with the second pair. I always buy jeans too big based on the store fit and end up exchanging after trying them around the house with tags on. You would think I might have learned by now.

I actually prefer the design of the second pair, so if I go with the smaller size, that's the one I would keep. But they do feel a little tight. I've already worn them around the house for a few hours. They stretched out a little, but not a lot. They feel very tight, like leggings. I prefer the feel of the first, larger pair.

There's also the concern about shrinkage. The second pair is tight enough that if they shrink, they might just be too uncomfortable. But the smaller pair has 10% poly, so maybe they'll be OK. The larger pair has 13% poly.

Those jeans are so adorable, but I think based on my own shopping experiences, if they feel tight you aren't going to be happy in the long run. Perhaps the second pair in a larger size is worth trying? I feel for you. I am having a very tough time finding jeans that fit well. I am starting to think I may need to turn to alterations.

ETA: If your fit problem is that the rise is too long, does it help to look for a low-rise?

Scarlet, the second pair is not available in the next size up. Sometimes I have problems with low rise in that there is not enough material to cover my rear end, so they can be uncomfortable in the back. It seems like most manufacturers do not make bottoms for people with, um, ample rear ends and smaller waists. My ace in the hole has been spandex. I don't know how any of my jeans would have a chance of fitting without lots of stretch!

I think they all look good on you. I'm with Scarlet; I would be hesitant to buy jeans that feel uncomfortable at first, because I'd be less likely to reach for them. I would keep the ones you like best, but keep the tags on and continue looking around to see if you find a similar look from a different brand that might work better. It seems a trend that is going to be showing up in different places. Maybe you'll decide to keep these, after all, but you'll know they're the best of the options.

Angie, I definitely prefer the comfort of the larger pair. If I should decide that the smaller pair is too uncomfortable, would it be OK to keep the larger pair, or do you think the wrinkling in the crotch is excessive? (To recap, the larger pair is pics 1-3.)

These are fabulous jeans. I have the same issue with whiskering at the front and then the jeans being too tight at the back. I generally opt for a smooth front :-). Sometimes there is a monobutt situation and that's when I draw the line.

I think I like the floral and colour of the jeans in pic 6 best. They do look tighter from the rear view, but you are not at mono-butt yet.

I also like the florals in 6. They seem a little more asymmetrical. I don't see the fading as a problem, but I'm not as picky about fading as some.

On your ETA pics 6 and 7, I personally like pic 7 better, no question. But then I prefer the lack of fading, and the embroidery pattern in pic 7. To me , if you're going to do embroidery then you should really do embroidery! But that is me being more maximalist in my taste.
As far as comfort, I'm way older than you, but I always go for comfort. I feel awkward disagreeing with Angie, as it's her job and she's so good at it. I know nothing ! But if it were me, I would be going for comfort.

Seriously, they both look good to me. I get that issue at the knees of jeans sometimes, too. In my opinion, admittedly biased, it's not bad looking here, because it's still in a place where you might wear it naturally if you were kneeling, if you know what I am saying. Which sounds sort of ridiculous, until you have a pair of jeans wear out in just that spot, which used to happen to me regularly when my daughter was small and I would crouch down while talking to her or doing up her clothing, out on the sidewalk. I had at least 3 pairs of jeans wear out at the knee (only ONE knee) doing that!

Anyway. I would go with the pair that makes you feel most confident. The differences will not be apparent once you have made your choice.

I like the way the jeans look in 6. My personal theory about fading is that the knee is the most normal place for jeans to fade, so it's all good.

Smittie, you make me laugh with your monobutt reference! Good to know other people have this issue. I do know that I have a poison eye for wrinkling at the crotch, so I will probably keep one of the smaller pairs. I have yet to wear the lighter-colored pair around the house to see how it stretches.

Suz, you are sweet to mention my smile! It is good to be able to post something so that forum members can see me. I know what almost all of the other members look like, so it is time to return the favor.

Maybe one of these days I will post a WIW. It is tough to look polished in pics, because all I have right now is the video camera on my computer monitor, which means I click the button and have two seconds to run off and strike a pose before the camera takes the pic! Ack! The lens also distorts things to a high degree. My phone is a cheapie and takes much worse pics than this, so I am stuck with the video camera for now. But it's better than nothing! I'd say I'm saving for a decent phone, but I'm not...I prefer to spend the money on clothing.

I like 6 better, I prefer the one leg embroidery and the fit is better. They both look great from the back. Very cute on you

I like the fading in #6 and I still prefer the larger jeans but I hate tight jeans so take it with a grain of salt

I'm leaning toward keeping no. 6. The material is slightly stretchier than no. 7, so they feel more comfortable, especially in the waistband. I also like the asymmetry of the embroidery.

Jenni NZ, I love the maximal embroidery on no. 7 too! The more I tried them out, the more I loved the extra embroidery. I prefer the lack of fading also. It is a hard choice! I'd love to keep them both, but I think they would steal wears from each other, and for $128, I need to be able to wear them a lot.

I like both sizes and really can't see much of a difference. Could you wear the smaller pair around the house to see if they stretch out? I have often found that the pair that I thought was going to be a bit tight stretched out to be just right, and the pair that I thought was going to fit perfectly stretched out to be too big.

I prefer the embroidery in 6 The emphasis on one hip seems more flattering.
