K/R: Forest print dress sized down (and Danier jacket going back)

First off, sorry I haven't been around - I'm in a very intense week-long work conference.

The forest dress arrived a size down. It fits although it's not as sack-like, and I think I'm going to keep it. Thoughts?

The Danier jacket arrived too, and is going back. The leather is a little odd and the fit is not quite right. An S is a UK 12! Also the color is more of a taupe grey which is not good for me. Oh well, I tried!

Too bad about the Danier, but the only way to know is to try, right? Right.

PS because of you I actually ordered these jeans in the size 4!! That's a size up and I currently own my size down. I'm just not feeling the super skinny. Probably a crazy move, but I will blame you. Okay? Okay. (It is only a $30 if they don't work, or I will offer them up here.)

Oh, I like the dress better in this size. I can kinda see what you mean about the jacket, which is a shame because it looked SO cool on the website. Well, onward and upward...

Are those jeans still available somewhere? They're Kuts, right? They were gone at Nordstrom's site.

The dress fits much better sized down and even looks like you could go smaller. Interesting how much looser the sleeves are on you -- like on the model -- vs. me, who fills them out. How do you feel about the high-ish neckline?

The Danier jacket looks like you could size down depending on what you wore underneath. But you also cited stuff that doesn't show up in pics. Next!

I guess I'm a spanner today.

I'm not sure, Una. I find the sleeve width on the dress a little overwhelming. But this could look a lot better in person - so your call of course. Perhaps you can wear black leggings with the frock. The grey seems to to take away from the dress.

Am I the only one who loves the Danier jacket on, Una? The sleeves are too long and the colour might be too warm, but the rest looks dead right to me.

Thanks, Angie! I guess that in addition to the issues I mentioned the jacket does not have that "Wow, perfect!" factor for me to add another leather jacket. The hood is a little fussy and the cotton lining is clingy. Also the zipper is off center but not enough to look deliberate to my eye. I appreciate you saying it looks good! That tells me I'm not whacko to have tried it.

The dress is just thrown on over these grey ponte skinnies. Will restyle with more pics to show fit. Why aren't there more long sleeved shifts out there?

I noticed the sleeves, too, Angie; they seem to stick out at the hem. That could be fixed rather easily, with tapering at the hem. Otherwise I really like the dress, Una, and I imagine the sleeves might look better when you're moving around. I'm also not all that keen on the gray leggings with the dress and think black would look better.
I missed out on the earlier jacket thread, but sorry it didn't work out.

You are right to return the jacket, Una. It has to feel right for sure.

I also feel like you could taper the sleeves as per Sharan's suggestion. Easy fix.

The dress looks great, but I'd taper the sleeves. And I agree, why aren't there many long sleeved shift dresses out there? The only ones I can ever find are super body con.

The smaller size looks like a very different dress - in a great way. The larger one was just so big that the print seemed to get lost. Interestingly, I don't mind the sleeves on this, but that might have something to do with the fact that I am loving bold, squared shoulders recently (not quite '80's padded, but very square). That's likely my own issue, though.

And the Danier seems overwhelming on you. Too much sleeve, too long in the body, too much hood and the colour is just a smidge too warm.

I like the dress on you AG. I did not notice the sleeves until Angie mentioned it. So may be it isn't that bad? Moreover, if it does bother you then the fix seems to be pretty easy. Isn't a deal breaker in my books. Under a jacket, I suspect this dress would look lovely!

Bummer about the Danier jacket. But now that its off your head ... Its all good

Una, I might be missing something but I love the jacket on you:). Sleeves need adjusting but the colur and the style looks so good to me. I am conflicted re the dress. I wan to like it but I am not sure it's your best. Would love to see it styled up for a better assessment.
