K/R Floral Jackets - YouLookFab Forum

On my list for Spring are a Floral Blazer and a varsity (baseball) jacket. I found these 2 on sale at Nordstrom and am in need of some YLF advice on whether these are keepers or if I need to keep looking. For consideration (ignore unstyled hair and overall outfit)
1. Hinge blazer - nice cut and fit. fully lined, lots of rainbow colors to work with

2. Varsity Jacket - I was thinking of something more traditional with leather sleeves, but this is nicer weight for spring

I like both and could keep, but they don't actually fall into my preppy style and streamlined color scheme (red, white, ink blue, and black). Do either seem like I could wear to work and casual or do I return and keep looking?
Oh and I slipped in some new flats...Gold Lucky Erla and Me Too black with silver toe Kim
- these are staples right?

OMG, I love #1. It's so awesome on you. I love the mix of colors and cut of the jacket looks great on you. It seems more classic than the other one. I really like the bomber too though. The shape is different and I could see it pairing nicely with bermudas and BF jeans for spring and summer. You look terrific in both!

ETA: I didn't comment about the colors--blue is stunning on you. Do you think it will limit you during spring and summer too? The bomber looks like it would pair well with black, white, cobalt, among other colors too. The blazer looks like it would coordinate with lots of your existing pieces.

Of course, flats are staples, Silly! Love them--especially the gold ones!

I'm less certain about the bomber. But it may be because you've styled it with a top that ends at the same length, so it could be the styling that is throwing me off.....

I can't take my eyes off you in that Hinge blazer Jeanne - the fit and the colours are just fab on you and I really like the scale of the pattern. Please keep this!

The colours of the bomber are beautiful on you but I'm less sure of the fit and style for you. But I am a "bomber newbie" so take that with a grain of salt.

And of course flats are staples....and animal print is a neutral...

Not sold on the jackets. It is not that they don't look terrific on you, I a just not sure they fit your style.

Of the two, I like the hinge blazer at least twice as much. If you can work it into your wardrobe, I think this is a keeper!

First of all, I adore the shoes. The metal cap the the print, so on trend. Great spring addition.

I really like both jackets, I am a true lover of florals. If I had to choose, I would pick the bomber. It is more unexpected and the colour is fabulous on you.

It seems you could make either work with your preppy style. Which style do you think you would wear more? My own personal preference, like Tina.b, is for the bomber jacket.

I love love love #1. The fit, the colours, etc it is fab. I am conflicted over #2 but it could just be that I am in two minds over that particular style of jacket.

I think #1 would fit into your wardrobe quite nicely. I can this jacket going to work and being great for casual as well.

I prefer #1. I think it would go well with your color scheme too. At least on my monitor, it looks like red, black and ink blue could all be paired with it.

I am more into #1 too but I think that is a personal taste thing - I am just not into the bomber jacket look at the moment. Let us know what you decide!

#1 looks like a jacket that could be worn with your color scheme, worn to work with trousers or a pencil skirt and dressed down worn with jeans or a denim shirt or a tee under it. I like the shape of the rounded front on you as opposed to the bomber's straight bottom. The flats are adorable.

The wisdom of the majority will rule here for me. I appreciate all the inputs, but in the end I was looking for a varsity jacket more like the one bj1111 linked to (LOVE but this is not a high budget item for me) so I think I'll return and keep looking. I still want a bomber/varsity jacket, but this is just not THE one (and I don't want more than one). I tried it with some work wear and it really didn't work.
This floral blazer will stay - the colors are happy (as long as it does not read old lady - I know my mom would think it does, but she has severe pattern aversion) DH gave #2 "the face" He doesn't usually say no way, and always tries to smile and encourage, but I can tell when he's not sold on something.
Side note I got the Me Toos in the solid black with silver cap not the leopard (I have 5 pair of leopard shoes/boots already) and they are quite comfy. I think I'm packing them for NYC this weekend. The gold ones feel like slippers almost - so comfy.

Wow, I love nr 2! (nr 1 is no brain keeper, but nr 2!!!:-))) I know you decided it's going back as everybody was a bit contraried on this one, but color is so awesome, and I can envision them with some slounchy navy pants (not denim), a floaty white chiffon blouse peaking under, and some black chuncky heeles- for work, too. Am I wrong?:-(

lyn you are a temptress. I will keep it a little longer and see if I can style it before I totally give up.
I am actually wearing #1 today (with a column of navy - shell and pants) in celebration of the 1st day of spring. I tried it with a magenta pencil skirt too, but could not find the right shell to work with that (packed away in off season I suspect) I think I will get a lot of wear out of it.
