K/R floral jacket?

I am not sure what I was thinking when I picked this up at a consignment shop. Well I do sort of know: http://youlookfab.com/2013/01/.....ay-or-nay/. But a floral jacket was not on my list! This one caught my eye because of the white/black/silver color scheme, the cut and the fun lining that you can't see. Not sure if it fits right in the shoulders and not sure it is my style. Please be honest, I do not need to keep this!

(I just threw it one over what I was wearing minus the sweater, and then ran up again to take a picture with the jacket closed and threw on other shoes, so this is the ultimate in thrown together, styling suggestions appreciated.)

I think the shoulder fit is good but it is a bit short to wear with jeans and trousers IMO. This is my eternal problem - jackets too short - so I may be too sensitive here.
As for the floral pattern it all depends on what you like. I have hard time with florals in general, there are very few floral patterns I really like so I cannot really comment on this objectively

Looks good to me! When you said floral, I thought "oh, no" but the restrained color scheme and pattern works beautifully. I like it just as you're wearing it and with the red shoes!

I love this! The fit looks good to me and I like the length and the slight nip at the waist. I also LOVE 3/4 sleeves:) And I find the silver/white/black colour scheme very flattering on you. I think this jacket is going to look best similar to how you are wearing it now. Jeans, simple top. In order to keep the jacket from looking to 'proper' I think more casual stylings are going to work best.

I don't normally like florals. Reminds me of my Grandmother's wardrobe (love Grammy, but she dresses her age KWIM). Anyway,I love the floral n this jacket. Love the feminine tailored vibe.

It is short, however, and I think would work best with skirts and dresses.

I love it on you, it looks fresh & spring-like - but you have to love wearing it.

I have a couple of jackets which I love that feel a little short with jeans. I wear them with a top that is slightly longer than the jacket (this may or may not work for your style).

I think it looks great! The fit, the waist nipping and the 3/4 lenght sleeves are all fab. I like that the floral is B&W too!

How/where would you wear it? This looks good for work or dressier occasions, but it is too conservative for casual / jeans IMO.

I love the colours on you. Gorgeous. I also love the sleeves. But it is a bit ladylike for your usual style, no? And I agree with Sveta that it is a touch on the short side...appears as if the waist detail is a bit higher than your actual waist, even if that is not true. But it might not look that way with a dress. And of course the cropped length would be super with a dress or skirt. BUT...the problem then would be that it might end up feeling too pretty or prim or conservative for you.

How about trying it styled with plain black pants and/or a dress and seeing how it feels? Or white pants, maybe. Or your fab slouchy trousers?

Yes, you have all touched on some of my conflicting thoughts. I do like the floral in these colors - and like these colors in general. But...I also get visions of my grandmother! I would probably wear it with trousers and skirts or dresses for occasions, but would it really get out often enough to justify keeping it? I think I would want to wear it with my white jeans to be, but right now I only have boyfriend white jeans. Interestingly the shortness doesn't bother me as much as the shoulders, which seem a bit wide to me. Thanks for helping me work this out!

ETA Yes, Suz you have pretty much nailed my concerns. Not sure it is my style and not sure about the fit. Will try some of your ideas and see how that goes.

Ohh- I just thought - it reminds me a bit in feeling of my BR peplum cloud jacket...also a very ladylike piece. I will have to show you some time in the spring.

I like it! But I agree with Sveta that it would be better over a skirt or dress.

From what I can see I like the small pattern and the color scheme. Scrunch the sleeves and wear a longer top if wearing with pants. Only you can decide if you feel comfortable with the fit and your style from there.

This is a beautiful piece, Shevia. i like the colour and pattern. It is a little bit on the shorter side but I think it can work with the right top. Also, Angie's post today is all about how you can pair BF's with dressier jackets. May be you can show us ths jacket with you BF's?

Too twee for your style. I vote return on this one, you can do better on a floral jacket.

Well I love it, but Angie has appointed me Princess Floral! I would wear it in a heartbeat. But having said that, is it your style Shevia?

I actually like it paired with the more casual jeans due to the great juxtaposition it creates. How else do you see yourself wearing it?

Thank you Angie - of course I was hoping that you would weigh in! I do appreciate everyone's honest opinions - indeed I am flip-flopping between the too twee, conservative, etc. viewpoint and thinking it makes a fun juxtaposition with some of my more casual clothes. I did try it on over one of my favorite skirts and did not love it - I think that I would more likely wear it with jeans or trousers. I need to try some more combinations.

This is a great argument for buying second-hand -- you feel free to play with it -- a bit of fashion exploration with few $$ on the line.

Love the jacket, and am interested in seeing how you make it your own.

I don't think it looks too short or that the shoulders are too big. I like it with jeans, too, personally.

Love this! To my eye, the length is just right with the jeans. This is where I like my blazers to hit. Great floral pattern and the black and white is totally modern. Definitely keep!

Well, I like it! The fit looks fine from here, but if you feel less than fab in it you probably aren't going to wear it enough to warrant a spot in your wardrobe. Just my 2 cents.

I like the jacket (actually I love the jacket!) and I love the red boots! Would you tell me what make and model they are? I'm always on the lookout for that heel height and am currently kicking myself for not picking up the snakeskin Pettys that everyone here seems to have. (Too expensive to have shipped to Canada to try on and now not available in my size anywhere anyway...boo.)
