K/R: First leather jacket (bright salmon) + appearance by Sex Kittens

Actually, that would be first leather jacket in over 20 years -- I haven't had a leather jacket since high school, when my parents brought back a navy bomber with pinstriped lining from Italy. I wore the heck out of that! Since then, I've only had pleather jackets.

Recently Anna posted a link to a leather turquoise moto jacket on discount from Bloomies. I ended up ordering that, as well as a salmon peplum jacket. The moto was too large, but the salmon jacket fit pretty well (except for the long sleeves). What do you think? I don't typically wear this color -- is it overwhelming me or making me look sallow? Are the long sleeves going to be an issue?

Hmm, I'm not sure. The fit is great, but the sleeve length worries me. Normally, I don't mind (and even like) a longish sleeve on my outerwear jackets but this one looks like it would completely cover your hands when it's unrolled, is that correct? Tailoring on leather is usually $$$$ and difficult...

The color looks good on you, but FWIW I have similar coloring and I ended up returning the (mistakenly sent) pink moto even though several people here (including Angie) liked it on me. It was just SO PINK, and I couldn't figure out how to style it. I think this one looks brighter and less pepto than the one I had though so it might be easier to wear...

I am torn too. This is a really cute outfit, but I wonder if the jacket is just a little large? Besides the long sleeves I am not sure if the shoulders are a tad wide.

Thanks Diana and Scarlet! I agree, the sleeve length is a bit worrisome. Anyone have ideas about the cost of alterations?

Scarlet - I think if it were smaller I wouldn't be able to zip it up. I often have this problem :/

The color looks great with your hair. I don't think it looks too big. Ask (Transcona)Shannon about the sleeve alteration, I think she's had the sleeves shortened on a leather jacket or two.

I think you can do better. Looks too large in the shoulders. That said, it's close... but hold out for better fit.

The colour is sublime, Cathy!! (Almost worthy of the sex kitties!!)

But I think maybe it is a bit large. They told me today in Danier the jackets should fit very snug, because they stretch like the dickens. I don't know if that is true of all leather, but that is what they said.

Sadly, the sleeves are too long and that is an expensive alteration, IMHO.

The jacket has been packed up and sent back, along with its turquoise companion! Thanks for the honest feedback. Good to know the color works, though--I could see adding something else that color to my wardrobe.

Dang, I love this look on you and hope you can find a jacket with the proper fit. I always have to buy petite leather jackets, which severely limits my options, and on top of it I still have to shorten the sleeves sometimes, so I feel your pain. Although you might keep checking Bebe, because their jackets run small even in regular sizing.

For the photos, the software that comes with your camera will automatically rotate them for viewing. If you just go to the file folder, you will see them as they really are, and the ordinary Windows programs will allow you to rotate them.

Laura--yes the sleeve thing is a pain for sure! It hits home why I like cropped sleeves on jackets

JR -- That's why I was confused about the rotation, because in the folder they appear in the proper orientation (I had rotated them and saved them). But when I uploaded them here, they are rotated 90 degrees from what they look like on my computer.

I can see why you would be confused. Sorry I couldn't provide better help. Were they perhaps saved in two places?
