K/R: first attempt at white skinnies/ETA white Rockstars

ETA: White Rockstars for comparison. A little scrunchy on the bottom? Any other issues?

I wrote out a whole post and lost it. So short story: j. brands, supersoft and comfy on, read that they stretch out so got a size down which may be my new regular size now that I've lost weight. I want these to be as fab as possible so I will wear them! Worn with cropped black sweater which would replace all my unused black cardis, also a K/R.

I'm with Jonesy. So far, so great! But we need the rear view.

Having said that...my Kut white skinnies got a negative vote for the rear side on the forum, but I kept them anyway with Angie's blessing; she thought they were a 9.

And the thing is, hubby says IRL they are FOR SURE a 10. (Note: He was initially a nay-sayer about white jeans and when I first slipped them on he looked uber-doubtful. But his eye adjusted - fast!!)

So I do think, especially with the rear view in white, it's possible our perceptions may be a wee bit skewed. And on balance, I would go with how they feel to you and how your loved ones say they look IRL.

Jonesy, you are a wise woman! I didn't even think to take a rear view, and after doing it now, I think it's a dealbreaker - just too many under-butt wrinkles. Curse you, flat derriere! These are so soft and comfy they are like pajamas.

Back to the drawing board...

Keep both! Great look! I'm so impessed by anyone wearing white jeans. Even without kids, I'd get stains all over within 10 minutes

I think a little bit of wrinkling under the butt can be okay. It's a question of degree. Maybe try sizing up? I think Angie always recommends that with white jeans. I like the outfit in any case.

Thanks, Scarlet! Good to know Angie's words of wisdom. In truth I'm not planning to wear ANY skinnies with my butt showing, but I think it's worth shopping around. A size up would be sliding off me because these are so stretchy, and I actually think the wrinkling is because I don't have enough booty to take up the extra material. What a sad state of booty affairs!

Mary K is right, if no one sees the butt wrinkles, and they're not uncomfortable then they don't exist.

They're fantastic! I am still looking for the perfect pair myself - I've developed this fixation about how wonderful they would look teamed with a cream trench coat...

I've also found that showing just a tiny section of butt works best for me, because anything that lands just below seems to cut me off in a funny way, actually making my rear look more expansive (crazy word, but I couldn't think of a more descriptive alternative!). I'm still kinda paranoid though, after so many yrs of covering it up!

These white skinnies (and this whole outfit) look AMAZING on you Una! I'm with MaryK & lynne - if no one sees the butt wrinkles because your tops will be long enough, does it really matter?

MaryK, that was my question! If no one is ever going to see my rear view uncovered (and this is the case with all my skinnies) does it matter? These feel so fab on and I've realized that if my legs feel encased then I won't wear the item.... Maybe I will post a picture....

They look great Una. They read a little like my red skinnies in that they seem to be somewhere in between a skinny and a straight leg, but I like this. Love the black cardigan it's a keeper. Have fun with the white skinnies and I wiill be looking to you for inspiration as I haven't worn my white straight legs yet!

BTW if tou going to always cover your behind, I wouldn't worry to much.

Per Angie the rear view does not always have to count. I declined something in NYC due to rear view and she claimed she's a front girl so take that. I vote if noone sees it due to top coverage keep.

I am a tiny size 2 wear white jeans and NEVER show my rear! I love my white Hudson Nico jeans, they are super skinny but I love that look with loose oversized tops and shirts.

I don't think the parts you will be covering are important BUT I would like to see the fit of these with your legs in a different position. So far they look good.

A new development! I went to Old Navy to get my son new jeans, because his superpower is destroying pants, and checked out the white Rockstars. The other colors were stiff, but the white pair in my size was really soft and stretchy, and they were 30% off today, so I got them! They are a similar fit. They are not optic white but a little more of a dull color. However, I'm not sure that's a problem and this price point ($150 less!) makes me much more comfortable experimenting with a new look.

So I think the j. brands are going back. This was a very enlightening thread, especially regarding the rear view issues! Thank you all for taking the time to chime in.

Una, are the ON pair low waisted? I tried on one of their colored skinnies awhile back and they were too low for my mommy tummy.

They are low but not as low as I expected. I tried the Rockstar in red a while back, and not only did it run really small, the rise seemed really low. This pair was different than the rest of the white ones, so I'm wondering if it's some old version that was kicking around. I didn't like the fabric or look of the other colors. These ones feel just like the j. brand ones though/ Weird!
