K/R: EF swing dress

What do you think of the fit of this dress? It's very full. I think it looks like a maternity dress or maybe a muumuu. Do you think I should keep it?

Just enough structure in the shoulders, sleeves, length and your shoes.

Ha! I am wearing a swing top today, navy blue, that I got at Rack. When I saw it I thought, this is the closest thing to an EF knocoff I've ever found, and for $17 I'll try it!

I took two sizes to the fitting room, and ended up with the smaller of the two. I felt like - for me - it was critical to get a close fit on the upper body, bc of the fullness below.

That being said, I do agree with Angie that this is the look, but I'd suggest two things. One, try a size down if it's not too much hassle, it could make a difference. To me the diff I saw was around the shoulder and bust area. And secondly, if you're not used to seeing yourself with such volume, try an elongating necklace or scarf to take the edge off of the fullness - at least to help your eye adjust.

I really like it on you. It is probably more volume than you are used to but is a very fun look. I do think the key is to have the top part a bit more fitted.

LOVE. I adore the swing silhouette -- especially in summer, without sleeves -- but this one would be really versatile and the colour is glorious with grey hair (if I do say so myself). Can't wait to find out what you decide re the size.

Suz, I ordered my usual size, but I lost some weight this winter. So maybe I'm a size smaller, or maybe it's just the style.

Sara, I don't know how I'll feel. I think this one is a little loose at the top.

I think it looks good, but try the size down and compare. Also, I want to echo what abc said. A long necklace or scarf might help you feel more comfortable with the silhouette.

Jenn, thanks! I think you and abc have a good idea. When I get the other size, I'll try it with a long necklace. I actually packed up the dress to return before I posted these pictures, that's how unsure I was.

I like the idea of sizing down, but I really love this silhouette and I like it with those shoes too (just the right amount of heft and skin). It's got great movement. Would be fab on a breezy spring day, and the color is gorgeous.

This type of dress makes for a fantastic layering piece too. A fitted blazer, scarf and booties would be very smart with this.

Love it! I have a dress just like this in charcoal grey and i wear it a lot. It's so comfy. I also agree with all you smart ladies about the size, and about wearing it with a long necklace or scarf. Or both!

I love it! The dress hangs close to the body so does not look too full.. Definitely try sizing down from your usual size to compare.

Joy, thanks! I'll compare when the smaller one gets here. In the picture I thought it looked like I was wearing a maternity dress! I think it needs to fit a little closer around my shoulders.
