K/R: EF grey cotton sweater - YouLookFab Forum

A big box arrived today, nearly all duds. Seeking your input on this sweater.

pros: thick cotton sweaters see a lot of wear in this climate; wanting to add more pale greys to my wardrobe; good base layer for signature scarves and jewelry; would contribute to wardrobe for upcoming 10-day festival; feels delicious.

cons: a second asymmetric sweater for transition seasons? soon dated? color?

The big Q: I've resolved not to buy anything that I can't wear with straight legs. Styled (barely) for today's weather with grey tank under and Birkies; likely to wear mostly with darker tank, a scarf, and black or wine booties and bag. Sizing up is not an option, but I think it may stretch out and loosen a little. How are the proportions?

I think it looks terrific. In general, I think the longer tunic styles seem to look better with skinnies but this one is a good length with the straights. It's a beautiful neutral on you.

I'm not a proportion master, but I do think it'll likely stretch out some, since all my cotton sweaters do that over the course of a day. At any rate, it seems to fit fine, from what I can tell. It seems to work with the jeans you're wearing here, as well.

I think it's a good move to style it with a tank that's the same color or at least relative darkness of the pants for the column of color thing.

Looking at it, I wish the sleeves were a little shorter. (Would draw the eyes to your skinny middle.)

I think the matter of how quickly asymmetric styles will date is partly dependent on the wearer; I love asymmetry and always have (and I find at least the one I have so far flattering, too), so I plan to wear those styles a lot / a long time. But how much use you'd get out of it depends on how much you like the style and the pieces, as well as how much you need different silhouettes, etc.

I think it's fits you very well. The overall and sleeve length suit you well and the asymmetric hem is very flattering. If it's stretches out a little it would probably be fine but I wouldn't size up!

I like it a lot. If you sized up knowing EF it would swallow you so I don't think you should do that. I like it a lot and your idea as a base for scarves etc is a good idea. I vote keep.

That seems to work well on you, and can be styled a lot of ways with your scarves and statement necklaces. I'd probably wear it with slimmer pants, but that's just me. You have an excellent haircut, by the way!

I think it's beautiful on you. What is the EF color called? Dark Pearl?
Proportion-wise, it looks just right. It's long enough but not so long that it becomes leg shortening. I wonder if the assymetrical hems are just fringe trend enough not to go out of style, at least it seems that way in my area.

I think it is lovely on you! And the proportions work great here, to my eye. I also think it has style longevity and I wouldn't worry about that aspect unless you will feel bored by it.

Your hair looks amazing, by the way! And I think this sweater complements it beautifully.

Keep it is; thanks for the input, everyone. I've just returned from returning the box of duds (Can you say lemming?); found a couple of basics that were on my list (ls black tee, olive blouse) and two scarves (duh) and still came home with money in my pocket.
