K/R Eddie Bauer Petite Puffer

I may be the only 4-season climate YLFer without a long puffer. This Eddie Bauer Sun Valley parka is rated their second warmest and comes in petite sizes which I need with my short waist and arms. It is currently on sale and looks like they just restocked some sizes and colors. I really like the color (Atlantic - a touch greener blue than my photo shows, vs Navy) and the exterior chest zip pocket which fits my phone. Not crazy about the sleeve pocket, but I can live with it (it is not looking removable).

The shoulders/chest fit with room for layering. It passed the car drive test. The waist and hips are a bit large, as I am a size or two smaller in pants than tops. I don't think it is alterable on the side seams without messing up the warmth.

Thoughts? Any suggestions for petite sizing, functional but attractive, long puffers that run narrower in the bottom but not the top.

I’m not a fit expert, but I think this looks flattering on you and certainly could find a useful place in your outerwear collection. I like the color too.

It looks good! I don’t think it looks too big in the hips. My husband gave me an EB long puffer for Christmas in the same color. I never had a long one when we lived up there. I didn’t know anyone who did. Everyone just wore their ski jackets. Maybe these longer ones are a newer development. I think they’re pretty nice.

I think it looks great! I wouldn't worry about the extra room in the hips, unless it looks really weird in real life. The coat looks flattering in the photos.

I think the coat looks flattering on you. To my eye it doesn’t look too large on the hips. If it passed the driving test, without having too much fabric around your hips when seated, I think you have a winner. This is the first year I have had a long puffer coat and I can’t tell you how much I love it! Yours is a great color BTW.

I think this looks perfect on you. It doesn’t look too wide in the hips at all, and personally I would rather have more room there in a long pufffer. I have one that fits fine when I stand but starts to get annoying the longer I sit....

This looks terrific on you. The chevron pattern of the stripes gives shape. And you can't really go wrong with Eddie Bauer -- they last forever. And the colour is lively and pretty on you.

You've also given me an idea. I'm typically sized out in this brand. We don't have the petites in Canada. But it looks as if petites in the line might work for me in certain items. Definitely worth a check now and again, I guess.

Great looking puffer and it does have a nice silhouette. i see no worries about hip fit in your photos. The color looks good on the screen and a hint of green in the blue as you describe sounds very appealing. I was in a four season climate without a current coat that functioned like a puffer for a season and once I found one, it got a lot of wear. Enjoy it.

Thank you all - I'm sold. I am trying to be picky about fit and one of my resolutions is to get feedback if I'm not sure. Now if we would only get winter here in the mountains of California!

Suz, I purchased my usual top size - Petite Small. I tried on a XS Reg in the store and it fit pretty well, just a hair long in the sleeves, but I wanted more room to layer under, and I knew the Reg Small would have longer sleeves. The warmest one, the Lodge parka was also nice - a bit sleeker and less sporty, but I really wanted the external chest pocket. The Lodge comes in two lengths and is even less expensive.

And yes to a Rachy puffy fashion show!

Karen, my husband gave me the EB Lodge in Indigo. It fits so much better than the Cabela’s puffer I bought at Goodwill.

It was 69 here yesterday. It broke the record by four degrees.

If you are looking for petite puffers, my "go-to" brand is Bernardo. This brand is cut sleeker -- I'm an inverted triangle with narrow hips. May not be as warm as the EB though. Good for moderate Boston winter temps -- I'll bring out the heavier parka for temps below say teens/20s. Also probably not built as well as I find I need to replace every other year. But price point is good for that.

I also like MK petites for packable short puffers (hit at hip).

Shiny - thanks for the suggestions. I will keep an eye out for these brands. Our weather here isn't really that cold, but my expected use for this is when I'm standing around outside for hours. The Bernardo does look much sleeker.
