These are the boots Suz has in taupe. They fit well and I love the style. They fill my black ankle boot need perfectly.

My only issue is the fit around the top of the boot. They aren't snug but are a bit stiff. It could just be that I've never found boots that fit around my skinny legs, so I'm not used to anything hitting me there. It's not painful, but it's not comfortable either. Should I test them out some more?

Well, you know what I am going to say! They look great on you, Una.

Do you realize the dark blue is already sold out everywhere in my size? I was hoping to get a pair of those.

I put a gel insole inside mine to add to the comfort factor. I wonder if you did that if it might lift you just enough so as to stop the botheration around your ankle.

There was a dark blue? Or am I colorblind and these are actually navy? The light is so bad here right now!

Well if they aren't comfortable around the top they probably aren't going to get better. I've always worn booties with pants in the winter, way before the bootie craze. Over the years I've had lots of different booties. If they rub in the beginning, it will only get worse with time.

They had a blue - you've got the black ones! They came in 3 colours but nobody seems to have the blue any more except in very limited sizes. They must not have made as many.

This is a tough call Una - they look fantastic on you but I do worry about the rubbing on the top. Do you think it's a fit issue or a fabrication issue?

Wow, they look amazing! Does the leather seem the sort that will soften up? Maybe walk around in them with some scrunched down socks for a while? They are so flattering to your dainty ankles.

I vote for further testing. They look fantastic, but if they aren't comfortable and don't quickly become more comfortable, beauty won't matter.

These look beautiful on you, Una, and I love the style for you. If you think they will be comfortable enough after a few more wears then I vote keep.

una, the chafing at the top is the worst. you won't notice it until you start to walk, then it's like fireants. ok, i'm wimpy. but that area of the calf should not have a callus just to accommodate the shoe.

bj1111, I appreciate that - sometimes I think it's not the shoe breaking in, it's my flesh! I'm going to keep wearing them around the house and see - they feel a lot better with a thin sock, even one that doesn't go to the top of the boot. And I'd never wear them barefoot.

So fab! Maybe some adhesive moleskin around the inside of the cuff? Not sure that would do the trick, though.

I think the boots look great on you! I worry about the chafing too though. I am on a search for black booties and it seems like all the ones I try are loose in the ankle area. Maybe it's to prevent the chafing? Or maybe I just haven't found the right ones yet!

I like them, but I agree with others about the fit issues, unless you can wear them with light socks for a breaking-in period (like I did with my Docs to deal with the ankle chafing thing). They are definitely casual-ish with the natural stacked wooden heel--is that what you were going for (vs. a black heel)?

I'm okay with ithe heel and the casual feel - I just can't find dressy ankle boots I like that are a wearable heel height. I loved a lot of your yoox finds but the whole returning issue is starting to send me around the bend!

If they aren't feeling much better after 2 - 3 short wears they probably won't work. If they aren't comfortable I don't see you wearing them.

Aw shucks, that chaffing issue is the worst. Sadly, you only realize how bad it is after a full day of walking on them. I have gotten so much bad bruising over the years, I no longer gamble it.

The ankle is not really a spot that softens up much with wear. And rubbing there is awful.

I would return and keep looking. No point spending money on something uncomfortable that you won't wear, no matter how cute.
