I got these drapey culottes from Madewell and brought them home to try out with things in my wardrobe. I was drawn to them because I liked the style and color, but I couldn't immediately picture what I would wear them with.
I am not sold on them, although I do still like the style and color. My uncertainties:
1. I'm not sure I have the right pieces to go with them at the moment. There are three pieces of fabric in my sewing queue that could go with them, waiting to be made up into tops. But those are notional tops, not actual tops in my wardrobe.
2. I prefer not to buy pieces that don't go with things I've made, and these culottes seem to look best with things I've bought, not made myself.
3. They are kind of expensive for a wild card that might not get worn that much. I could return them and see if they go on sale (quite likely, I would imagine).
4. I could make them, though I would not find quite this fabric or color.
5. Am I comfortable with this color on my lower half? Usually I wear neutral bottoms and color in my tops.

Here they are with several tops and shoe choices, otherwise unstyled.
1-2: with black drapey tee, blue jean jacket, black nubuck heeled sandals
3-4: with cropped eggplant cutout top and black nubuck sandals or metallic lace-up Mary Janes
5: w/ gray linen cowl-neck layered vest and metallic lace-up Mary Janes
6: w/ cream drapey tee, nude pumps and clutch
7-8: w/ denim blue high-low tank top and metallic peep-toe sandals
9: w/ stone linen high-low tank and metallic peep-toe sandals
10-11: w/ cream crinkled shell and cardi and cream & taupe lace-up sandals
12: w/ cream asymmetrical linen top and two-tone sandals or metallic peep-toe booties
13-14: w/ black drapey tee and missoni-esque cardigan and black nubuck heeled sandals
15: w/ floral mesh knit tunic and black nubuck sandals

I would like to hear any thoughts you care to share! (Please try to ignore the lack of proper underpinnings with some of these see-through tops.)
Thanks for looking!
