Both are so beautiful and gorgeous on you!
I duplicate a lot. Also some statement pieces. Sometimes I am happy I did, sometimes I regret doing it afterwards, when one of the pieces is not worn enough. Sorry for the non adviceā€¦
On this jacket, I am with April though. If wearing the jacket makes you feel great, excited and happy - it is worth an extra version.

I love the brown and think it looks fab over your column of black wedding outfit. Actually I think the more colorful, detailed embroidery on the brown makes it look more luxe (while still being able to be dressed down). So I vote keep the brown and return the gray, if that's possible.

I duplicate a lot, and am not opposed to it even for statement pieces -- but in this case, you seem much more excited about the brown, so I'd ask: in what circumstances/outfits would you choose the gray over the brown? (I bet even over a column of gray the brown would look great, because of the blue-gray stitching in the mix.)

So much good feedback and food for thought here! Thank you, everyone. I had convinced myself that the grey was the only option for my column of black, but seeing the brown over the black today has shifted my thinking a bit.

Still a work in progress, but one observation I have is that the grey represents the path I've been on the past several years while the taupey brown represents where I am going.

I am starting to play with the notion that if I wear the brown one as my wedding topper I could possibly change into my bronze sneakers when the lights go down and the dancing starts.... hmmmm....

I love the brown with black. If you're only keeping one- I vote for the brown one!

Ooh, yes, definitely do the brown/black combo! I think it will look great. My own fall wedding guest outfit ended up being brown/black, with "olive bronze" shoes, even (someday I'll get around to posting a WIW).

Another point in the brown's favour is that it will look amazing with denim!

Please do post, LaPed -- I want to see your olive bronze shoes!

I don't think my vintage choker works as well with the brown, so toddling off shortly to see what is out there for possible accessories...

Interesting! If you were to choose one I am thinking brown makes more sense right now. Then the choice is whether you want to duplicate a statement - which would make it part of your signature.

Shevia - I am leaning in the same direction now that I have seen how the brown works with the black. I don't know that I need two of the same statement piece. The brown one kind of combines the best of the solid brown that I have already returned and the solid grey.

My only question with the taupey brown is what accessories? Both gold and silver seem out of place. I have pearl earrings and a very simple pearl necklace, but maybe too country club for that funky jacket? Maybe rose gold?

Carol- try brass or bronze jewelry

I tried something on the brassy side and wasn't sure it was quite it. Bronze is an interesting idea but not sure I will be able to get my hands on any in time for the upcoming event. Will keep a lookout tho. Also on the accessory front I took a pearl earring to be fixed tonight. It had come off its post. The guy glued it, but the butterfly backing was also on the post. Long story short, the post and butterfly are holding totpgether well, but the post is out of the earring again after I tried to pull the butterfly off. Grr.

Yes to bronze accessories, copper or rose gold too! Flame painted copper is especially nice. I also like semiprecious stones with browns like turquoise and jasper.

I think I'd go with jewelry that picks up the embroidery colours. Pearls would make sense, or something leaning towards blue like turquoise or aquamarine...

What about mixed metals? I think brushed (not shiny/polished) gold + silver could be nice.

I think the bronze looks smashing on you. It looks great with the white jeans and matching sneakers, and as you say, I can envision it with blue jeans and blush pinks. I think it is more stunning on you than the gray one.
I would be on the fence about keeping both, but I have duplicated a fairly distinctive cardigan myself (in Finds below) and found opportunities to wear both. In some years, I wear the lighter one more, and in others, I wear the darker one more. But I have a pretty large wardrobe.

Thanks, Firecracker. I love your duplicated sweater -- the colourways are different enough that each reads as quite distinctive.

For the ones I am considering, I think the grey one is easiest to accessorize with my black base items -- I don't have to go shopping for new accessories with only days to the event.

The brown one works with more of my newer pieces and supports a move to bring more colour into my closet. A little more tricky to accessorize. I do have pearls, but one of my pearl earrings is broken and an attempted fix yesterday went very wrong, so not sure if those will be an option or not.

Still time to decide. And it won't be the end of the world if I just go with the gray because it is most suited to the immediate need (wedding guest this weekend).

CarolS just chiming back in. As much as I love the brown on you I actually thing the gray is more suitable for the wedding. Something about the 'silvery' shine looks more festive to me, sort of takes it to that level. Obviously the brown will work 100% too, just splitting hairs.

Thanks, Star -- I feel similarly. One is better for the need at hand. The other I would probably enjoy more in the longer term and wear it quite differently.

Keeping both wouldn't break the bank, but one of these days I will have to decide if I really NEED both.

Carol, I hands-down love that brown for you! It sets off your hair beautifully. What's the verdict on wearing it for the wedding? Can it be worked into the wedding outfit? If it can't, I vote keep it anyway, and wear it every chance you can.

No verdict yet, Mary Beth! It works with the black but is harder to accessorize with the outfit (would take time and shopping). I would consider pearls with it but one of my pearl earrings needs repair and I might not have it in time for the event. i will play with it all a bit more over the next couple of evenings. I really need to build a dressy capsule so I don't have to either like this every time an event comes up!
