K/R: dressy clutch edition - YouLookFab Forum

The two clutch bags I ordered from Yoox have arrived! What do you think? Please pardon my ratty loungewear dress, but I wanted you guys to see how they look in proportion to my body...

5-6: red leather clutch. This one is stiff and flat and made of glossy leather. I have my wallet, keys, and phone in there and that's pretty much all it can hold. It has both a wrist strap and a long shoulder strap (both removable).

1-3: soft blue leather/sequin clutch. This one is a bit larger and can hold quite a bit more. There are 2 compartments inside. It has a short chain strap. The sequins are pretty small, well-attached, and not scratchy.

I can keep one, both, or none. These would be for dressy events. I suspect the red would be more versatile style-wise but the blue is more versatile size-wise (since I can actually put more than minimal stuff in it). I don't own any other clutches right now, although I have a couple of other structured small evening bags.

The red one is beautiful and the size should work for the evenings out but not for the daytime.
Sequin one is really fun, I like it too.

They're both beautiful! The red strikes me as evening only, the sequins could be both night or day (as a very dressy juxtaposed element). I prefer the sequined one for myself, but I think you would get wear out of both of these cuties.

I wasn't onboard with the sequin bag when you first posted, but I'm changing my mind. Personally, I'm not a statement bag person, but it seems more you from the WIWs I have seen you post. The red one is cute, but a bit preppy/vintagey for your style. I see you as a more colorful and modern-- so I vote for the blue sequins.

I like them both!! Do you mind the tassels on the red? They do give it a slightly preppy vibe. But if that doesn't bother you, then full speed ahead!

BTW as much as I think clutches are cute, I hate how little they actually hold. So impractical! But they're fine for a dressy evening out.

Thanks, ladies. I am inclined to keep both. Yeah, it's a bit of a splurge but not totally impractical since I do need new evening bags. (My silver fabric clutch broke earlier this year (not worth repairing) and I am mightily sick of my little black bag, which might be a bit dated to boot).

Angie, the sequins are surprisingly not very scratchy. Obviously they are not soft but not scratchy either. I think the trick is that they are not the normal big flat sequins but rather smaller ones with a big hole in the middle.

Robin and Suz, the preppy vibe from the tassels doesn't bug me. Yeah, I'm not preppy but a tiny little touch is fine.

Natalie, the sequin clutch actually holds a surprisingly large amount (for a clutch). The red one really does hold very little, but it's enough for the essentials. I actually have an "evening wallet" that is tiny (holds just a couple of cards and a bit of cash), which leaves more room for other things.

Rae, ah, that is the question, isn't it? I think I do go to more potentially dressy events than other people, although they are probably not technically things for which I need a sequined bag. But I will use the sequined bag nonetheless, even though everyone else might just be carrying a regular day bag. I am actually going to something (a cocktail reception and concert) next week for which I might use one of these. Plus I have several wedding-related things coming up as well.

I like them both and think they will go with different outfits so would both be useful. I prefer the blue one because it seem more versatile since the size is bigger and you can carry more stuff.

After thinking about it more, I think keep both for sure. Day sequins and day clutches are both acceptable right now, so you could possibly even wear the blue one casually if you wanted. Plus it seems like it fits in with your teal items somehow. Plus I just like em both a lot and think they'd be pretty with your dressy outfits.

Don't wait for a dressy event! Especially with the sequined one since it can hold more stuff. Both will look as great with jeans as they will with a cocktail dress. Also, they both have straps!

I really like them both. If you can keep both, I would. If you can only keep one, my magpie side says the sequin one! It is more unique and makes more of a statement.

They are SO different. I would keep both for various occasions (because I hoard like that) or else choose the one that is best for what you need now.

I also would like to see you with both but if you have to choose my nod goes to the sequin one which I think fits into your style and can be used for both day and night, plus the added perk that it fits more.
