K/R dress?

Ended up ordering the green dress Dianthus had recommended Thistle take a look at. It's very comfortable and I like the pockets and color but what do you think about fit? I'm wearing a slip in the photos but no shapewear. I feel like there needs to be a "wide load" sign posted on my back side.
Oh, and FWIW, I'm 5'4" and this is NOT a petite. I'm kind of surprised it isn't longer.

The color is quite pretty on you and the front view is lovely but I am sorry to say I am afraid I would consider the back view a bit too snug for professional office wear (I dont know if that is the intended use....) Would a size up be an option do you think or would it become too large in the shoulder?

ETA: I dont know if you consider shapewear to be an option or if it makes you feel too hot, but it could be worth considering. I think it might give that 1" of slack to allow a bit more skimming fit, although I am not an expert there to say for sure.

ETAA: I am probably more conservative than average when determining office wear guidelines FWIW too.

Oh, I think the fit is excellent. And it's a lovely color. I vote keep.

Sarah A, trying the next size up may be worth a try. I would really like to have something that does NOT require shapewear and it may add a bit to the length although I'm not unhappy with where the dress hits now.

I wish they designed as much ease in the back side of the dress as the front! Something is wrong here, the dress is lopsided. Most women will need the reverse of how this dress seems to be cut. The material is pulling in back so I would try the next size up, but the fit is so great up top and in your front that I'm not sure that will work. Sadness!

Pil - this is a gorgeous colour for you. It sets your hair off beautifully and looks so spring-fresh.

I LOVE it from the front.

Here is my thought - in pic. 2, you have your hand shoved into your pocket which is making the dress pull. Can you post a pic without your hand in pocket?

ETA just saw you are already wearing a slip. Well, it is worth trying a size up and comparing, I think.

I think this looks beautiful on you, the colour is just stunning! From the front it is a great fit, I agree that there is just a bit of pulling in the back. It is not a dealbreaker IMO, but I would try a size up if possible. You have a gorgeous figure!

FWIW, I always wear shapewear with a tailored dress, it just makes me feel my best.

Oh my, this colour is just delicious on you Pil! I love this style of dress for you. I think it would be worthwhile to try a size up and see how it fits on you. Also, is it possible the dress will give a little in the back with a bit of wearing? I know my black BR sheath is a bit snug after it's washed but then by mid morning from sitting, etc. it is completely relaxed and non-clingy. Just a thought.

I find it very shape flattering, I am concerned that sizing up might make the sleeves sag. NO wide load sign needed - you have a very nice womanly shape from behind if you don't mid my saying so. Colour is hot! Keep and wear with confidence!

I wouldnt overlook the bagging out factor Shannon mentioned. Maybe wear for a a few hours, tags on, to evaluate. If it the fabric does bag out a bit with wear the size up wont be good at all!

Shannon is wise - can you wear it around the house for a couple hours and take another picture? The fit is fantastic from the front.

Thanks for the suggestions and comments everyone! The green is a pretty color, isn't it? It just occurred to me that while I'm wearing a slip I typically wear hose, which I'm not wearing here. I've ordered the next size up and will post pics when it gets here.

Wearing it around for a while *is* a good idea.

This is an issue I run into with LE quite a bit. They give you a lot of material n the front and not enough in the back!

Honestly, I would return for the next size up. I read a lot of reviews on the dress and am still trying to decide if I want to I'll the trigger. The LE by me is actually pretty rude about returns. The waist seems to hit you at an okay spot. A lot of reviewers said it was way too high, almost empire waisted, which made the dress look maternity.

Gosh, I love the color thou. Might be worth the rude ladies to give it a try!

Thistle, I'm able to return to Sears stores. Maybe you can do that instead? The green would be so nice on you.

I LOVE this dress on you. Yes, a couple more inches of length would be great, but it's flattering and appropriate as is. I think it'd be good to both try the size up and wearing this around the house a bit to see if it gives.

You may feel a little larger than before, PIL, but you have a lovely, proportionate figure. This dress gives a defined high waist, and your shoulders and hips balance each other nicely.

Gorgeous color, I think it's really close to great. The length (and you have a tiny heel on) is good (not too much above knee). Hmmm LE? Might have to try this one.

Jjsloane, do I remember reading in a thread that you are on the tallish side? Well, taller than me at 5'4" - the dress in my pics is not a petite but rather a regular so it may be shorter than you like.

I agree that the colour is beautiful and makes you shine. The cut however is not. From the front it looks great but not from the back. It also seems a tad too short. I would order one size up and then visit a tailor.

Thanks for the alterations reminder, Krishnidoux. That is tool I don't think to use often enough.

It's the way the dress is cut, it would require alterations on many people I think.
