K/R Denim tapered bermuda shorts--which wash?

Ever since Angie's tapered denim bermuda shorts post (http://youlookfab.com/2012/06/.....on-the-go/), I've been thinking that I need a pair of casual denim shorts--I don't have any denim shorts because my old ones were maternity. I tried the cheap Old Navy ones, but they were too baggy and cheap feeling. So I ordered two pairs of J brand bermuda shorts. Which wash do you think looks better? They are both size 28 but fit slightly differently. They're both comfortable. I like the fit on the faded pair because they are more fitted around the knee, but am wondering if the prominent whiskering is too much on the front. The darker pair looks a little more polished, but the legs are a bit more baggy around the knee.
Which one would you keep? Or should I return both and keep looking?

I prefer the darker wash but they look quite firm in the fit? If they give a little as denim is wont to do I would say consider keeping.

I prefer the darker wash (especially for your more polished style) but they are a bit snug looking in the front. If they do stretch and you don't plan to tuck much I think they're fine.

I have a pair like those and never wear it because they feel too tight and I hate going tight in he summer -which is why I stick to dresses. They do look a tad tight on you, but I think that's how they are supposed to be. How do they feel?

I am unsure of the fit of both of these. I probably prefer the darker wash but can't say I think either of these are good enough.

I like the lighter wash for shorts (looks more relaxed for MOTG) but they appear from your pics to be a wee to tight for tucking if you plan to.

They look a tad too tight to me too. Have you tried one size up? I think the darker wash is dressier, but I think that I second Marie in this, I like the lighter wash better for MOTG shorts.

I just don't like the silhouette of either of these where they are so fitted in the thigh. Not up to your usual style. I'd keep looking for something more flattering.

I'm on team rear view and the first pair is very flattering in that regard (and from the front too!). Glad to see that Angie approves.

I usually love whiskering, but on my monitor the lighter wash whiskers give almost a camel toe illusion. The darker pair looks way better to me. I still like a lightwash pair for you eventually; light denim really helps dress down an outfit, I think.

I like the fit of them both, denim tends to stretch out a little with wear. I prefer the darker wash on you.

I prefer the dark wash. The length is great on both of them for your shapely legs but the dark wash just seem to skim over the body in a better way.

These look great; I slightly prefer the darker wash. Too bad you don't have some skinnies with a hole in the knee. These would be so easy to DIY.

I prefer the darker wash because of the whiskering pattern on the lighter ones. I see what Rae sees in the photos.

Thanks everyone! I like the fit of the lighter wash better but the appearance of the darker wash. Plus, the dreaded cameltoe assessment from Rae has me worried. These are pretty expensive for shorts since they're premium, so if they're not perfect, I think I will keep looking. I think there's got to be a good middle ground between cheap feeling Old Navy and pricey premium J Brand.

I like both of these. The thing is, what tops are you planning to wear with them? For me, I would probably wear only longer tops, so the whiskering would be a non-issue.

I agree, though, that you can probably get the same idea for less money. This is not an item that I would pay premium price for, IMO.

I am on the fence because I am concerned they are too tight. Sorry I can't offer a better solution.
