K/R DC Meetup Trench and extra Rack Find

I bought this great trench with the help of the lovely ladies who joined me at the DC meetup. Tanya spotted the first one but then we found this one and liked it better. I'm still very on the fence about it. I think it needs slimmer bottom underneath, but most of mine are very dark. While I like the blush color in theory I'm not sure I really like it in a trench. I wear a lot more color than pastels. Is it worth keeping for just sometimes wear? It's Cynthia Rowley, cost $39.99 and is liined with a light tan leopard print.

Bonus shots of my latest Rack find - Kate Spade silk shell for $44!!! I'm ticking off my boxy top block and hoping to actually wear it with my hemmed slim VC pink pants (ready next week) Chanelling Tanya I searched for non-polyester and this just came up. It really is nicely made with a lining and tiny neck buttons in back.
2. KS top, Anthro fish print skirt, orange patent Me Too pumps (I think these are a bit bright for this combo) Does it count as boxy over full?
3. is tucked with a jacket over it and more neutral shoes
Help.

I LOVE the blush coat on you! You wear that colour so very well, it is stunning! And I'm quite happy to see the bright shoes and peek of peachy colour from beneath, you know! I can't say the bottom has to be slimmer --- in fact I can quite see a full navy skirt under it, as much as this season's light grey, or maybe a dark teal or a white...

I'm not sure of the proportions of #2, though I can't quite put my finger on what gives me pause. It may simply be that the print is being cut awkwardly.

LOVE #3. Absolutely divine. Summery while looking extremely polished and timeless indeed!

Jj how does it look open? I am also on the fence re the trench. On one hand i think the color flatters you but I am not sure of the cut. I think I would prefer if it were more streamlined. My response was hmmm that's nice but not WOW! And so many of your other garments are wows! I'm am aware tho that being a light color it may actually look better in real life.

And I love 3! Really stylish and elegant.

I agree with Deb but I know the fab DC group was with you when you bought it. Since it passed their muster I'm tempted to think that it just does not photograph too well.
However, if you don't feel good in it, the best thing to do is to return. That's my policy, no exceptions.

#3 is awesome! Great find on that KS top!

I support Deborah on the trench. Lovely colour, but maybe a more streamlined cut would add the wow-factor. I love the blouse and particularly the way you have styled it in #3. The bright shoes are really nice and "happy shoes" and goes well with the outfit. #2 i'm nit that sure of because it seems a bit boxy. Have you tried to add a belt? Maybe the same colour as the shoes? Very summery feel to this outfit and makes me long for summer

I am going to sit out commenting on the trench, as the color is so gorgeous on you in reality that I can not see past it.

Great find on the KS top, and I absolutely love #3. Something is off in #2, so I would probably stick to tucking that top in fuller skirt.

( And I would like to apologize about probably driving everyone batty at the meeting with my dislike for polyester. It is just something I can not help).

Well everyone seems to love #3 but I seem to love #2! Great blouse find, great skirt and great shoes. I am unsure about the trench- I think I like it a lot but I need to see it over something else.

I agree with Deborah: I like the blush coat on you, but it doesn't wow me. I really like you in bright colors, and this one is so subdued. On the other hand, it would probably be good over some of your brights.
I haven't gotten around to posting my latest trench coat results, but here's one that was really flattering on me, so might work for you, too:

It's more expensive than the Cynthia Rowley one, but I could see the biscuit color looking nice on you if you wanted a neutral, or the red if you'd rather have a bright color.

Great find on the Kate Spade top-It will go with tons of things! With the Anthro skirt ( which I LOVE, btw) I like it with the top tucked in to show the bright top part of the skirt, and do wear the bright orange shoes!

Oh, one more thing while I'm playing personal shopper! You've GOT to try on the Ann Taylor orange slouchy pants that Nakidra bought! I tried them on and loved them! They've got your name all over them!

i thimk this is my favorite outfit of yours. you wear these colors so well with your hair and skin color. really warms your face.

ps. i like the proportions of both 2 and 3. 2 is the casual interpretation and it make the skirt look like a completely different one by masking the darker waistband. bonus!

I agree with bj that both skirt looks are very nice. My preference is for #3 because it shows more of the interesting print. I'm kind of on the fence about the trench - the colour looks very nice on you. The fabric is quite soft looking - maybe you would like something with a bit more crispness to it?

That is a gorgeous trench color. Are you sure you can't treat it as a regular beige trench and just wear it with everything? The colors are in the same family. I'm starting to crave longer trenches, but if you're okay with the length and think you could wear it with more than just pastels, I would keep it.

I think your Kate Spade top is the find of the century. You could wear it two or three times a week this summer and no one at work would notice, it looks so versatile! And if you can hand wash it in the sink and it will dry in a jiffy. Lined silk, perfect! Loving your orange juice/tequila sunrise skirt! Super fab with the orange shoes. I'd tuck to show the design, but wear the top untucked over other bottoms.

Hmmm, I guess put me on Team Ambivalent about the jacket! Is it tugging a teeny bit at the chest button? How do you feel in it? Like a glamorous super spy or something along those lines? Gorgeous and chic?

I love the KS top. I like it loose and boxy in #2 (I think the bright heels help here), #3 seems like too much of one thing (creamy neutrals). Just my two cents!

I like the trench coat too! But like Jonesy, am worried about the pulling on the bust. You wear that colour very well.

Love #2. Volume on volume and works to my eye because of the short hemline. Great Kate Spade blouse!!

I also like #3. Fresh and yummy like a citrus orange smoothie.

Citrus orange smoothie! That's exactly what I thought! The top is beautiful and I like it either way (tucked or untucked). How wonderful to find such a gorgeous silk blouse.

The coat is so gorgeous a colour on you that it's hard to see past that. I truly love it. But I wonder a bit about the fit. So I would say, go with how it makes you feel and also whether you have a need for a lighter coat to supplement others.

Thank you all for the invaluable insights. The trench fits well (the pull is probably more a result of racing to beat the timer), the color is good for me, but I just don't love it. It's poufy on bottom which I think looks chic, but not on me. It's been an interesting exercise of even if it looks good, if you don't love it or feel fab in it you won't wear it. I think I'm still looking and am definitely going to check out the one Parsely posted (probably Red) since I think we are similarly shaped and looking for the same thing.

The saga continues, but you know I'll be updating you all until the deed is done.

Angie I kind of knew you'd like #2. It's generally the silhouette most like my body so the one I try to manipulate and avoid regularly. I might be feeling braver now. I also feel a bit like a smoothie today - I'm wearing the fish skirt, but not Kate. I'll post at the end of the week as I'm trying to add orange everyday and want to see the citrusy goodness all lined up for review.

Since the trench is all sorted out I will just say that I love the skirt with orange shoes! You could also do a denim jacket with that same outfit #3 to keep the boxy over boxy thing going?

Jeanne, I feel the exact same way about coats that pouf on the bottom--I just don't feel good in them, or like me! Are you an IT too?

All these colors look so great on you. Score on the KS blouse. And I love the skirt! The color of the trench looks fab, but if you don't love it, don't keep it. I think that is so important.

Oooh, you look SO good in these soft colors! I love the new shell and skirt. I'm kind of on the fence about the coat. I love the color but I'm not sure about the bust area and the flare on the skirt portion of it. I'll defer to others on that but I will say that these are your colors and you look utterly fab in the skirt and blouse!

OOo the fish print skirt is adorable and you look so well put together when the trench is on with those red shoes. I don't think you need to have skinnier bottom, seem perfect the way you did it.

That blush color on that trench was great but if you don't LOVE it, then return it.

I really like the trench on you, but if YOU don't feel great in it I vote return (life's too short!). I like both #2 and #3, and think the shell will look great with slim pants as you described. The heels look fab in #2, not too bright to me. I think a cropped jacket would also work well with #3.
