Many photos incoming! I did a mini outfit lab with a pair of cream plimsolls for those of you asking me to style the jeans with 'chunkier' footwear (most of my shoes are more of the sleek/ almond toe kind, so this is unfortunately the best I could do!) I usually wear more 'classically' tailored bottoms because I'm self-conscious about accentuating my lower half as a pear shape (thanks @slim cat for confirming the pocket placement doesn't give me that dreaded nappy butt :p) , so I appreciate everyone's feedback & help!
PS - sorry for the lighting (not much bright white lighting in our corridor unfortunately)! Hopefully the front tag (attached to the waist) is like a shiny white beacon that gives you an idea of where my jeans end & where my top begins I also tucked the scarf into the jeans in the later photos to help.
@Phoebe Looking back at the photos, I think I can see what you mean about the thin cuff not matching the visual weight of the bottoms. I've tried a few different wide cuff styles in these photos - what do you think? Some are with all the contrasting lining showing, but others the wide cuff made & then folded again on itself to only show the dark material. Should I try a French cuff (tucked inwards) or not enough weight?
@Angie it does indeed stay up without the belt without any plumber's crack (a few sit tests attached) but I'm wondering whether I need to take it in a little at the waist? I generally prefer high waisted bottoms for the waist definition, so I'm not sure if I'm subconsciously hiking them up too far with the belt. Do you think the 14 petite might actually be too short in the rise for me, & that a 14 regular would work better?
@N I'm not entirely sure myself, hence asking the forum for advice! (This thread is actually a response to Angie's denim trend report, which is linked at the top). I'm not used to the 'relaxed/ oversized' look on myself since I usually need things to be neatly fitted to avoid overwhelming my height - even the shoes I'm wearing here were only bought last year because I was so apprehensive about trying the 'chunky fashion sneaker' trend that's been around forever It is indeed a little loose on the waist (pretty much every item of clothing is on my pear/ hourglass shape, so I'm debating whether to alter it) but I'm worried if I size down that it would no longer fit in the thigh/ rear (there's about 1-3 inch space there now, with a lot more leeway in the legs).
