K/R: Cowboys and Indian, or nude for me Frye Taylors

Whomever suggested the Frye Taylors was spot on. I was wavering after my orange Fryes didn't work out. Then there was only one pair left in my size and as Rita said, I decided to BBQ!

I would actually wear these with casual skirts and denim shorts, but also would wear to work with pants the way Rae wears her tan Seychelles booties. Or are they too casual? These are so close to my skin color, and zip up, and have a much narrower circumference.

Ooh these are nice. I like the color too--it blends but is not too matchy matchy to your skin tone. They look pretty sleek for cowboy boots and the narrow opening is perfect! Curious to see what others think! I vote keep. They seem perfect for your UWP style.

I like. I like the idea of them better with pants/jeans because of your narrow desi ankles. ( desi for those not in the know= catch all term for everyone with origins/ties to South Asia). but lets see them styled for some better advice!

Sona, LOL! Skinny wrists and ankles, poochy belly, flat derriere... Sigh. This is probably as good as it's going to get for me with cowboy boots and chicken legs!

Oooh, I really like those. The color should darken slightly with wear, shouldn't it? Is it like vachetta leather, where it will get warmer and darker as it absorbs oil and grit? (Ah, oil and grit, the great leather beautifiers.) That would only make them even more gorgeous, and I really like them as is.

Wear to work with the right outfit - might be slightly harder to unify into work wear with light colors but maybe not. Like them in any case and fit is much better than the other boots!

I do like them, and I think the almody toe will look dressy enough under pants, as long as the heels are high enough for PPL. I can't tell if the shaft is puckering strangely on the left leg, though, kind of like how Diana's nude peep toes were puckering?

Rae, trying on cowboy boots with wider shafts has made me realize how much I overpronate! You can see it easily from the wear on the soles of my running shoes, and now I find my calves do not stay "centered" in boots but tip to the side because of it. It doesn't affect boots that fit more tightly. I think that's causing the wrinkled effect you're seeing when I stand on the edges of my feet. Bleh.

Will try with pants now! I love the looks you've been wearing recently with your nude-ish boots.

Take it for whatever is worth since I'm a pretty boring dresser, but I am not liking this type of boot with bare legs on you. I think they do not do justice to your beautiful legs and physique. I think the color is spot on but this is a bulkier boot so they make your legs look skinny when they are not. Are they on the longish side, size wise? I don't know, they look big.
I think they will be great with skinnies, however.
The ladies have gotten lucky with those report booties. Did you try them on?

Zap, I appreciate the feedback. My legs ARE skinny - my calf circumference is 12"! I'm in that "doesn't have to be flattering as long as it's not actively unflattering" mode with the cowboy boot attempts. What do you think of the look with pants?

I think the Report booties are going to be too wide in the shaft - will look at them again though!

Ah, I see. I was hoping it was just a shadow... since the wrinkling is real, I vote Nay. It will ultimately make the leather seem thin and low quality to the eye, and Frye's aren't cheap. I wonder if a slightly slimmer, slightly taller shaft is in order, so that the boot hits at a wider part of your leg?

I know I'm going to out myself as someone who is completely nuts, but I really don't like that brown zipper. Just too high-contrasty with the lighter color of the boots--makes them look cheap, IMHO. I also agree with Rae on the fit stuff.

They look 1000% awesome with pants and I bet with skinnies as well. Tough call. Ok, so if we are going for looks over flattery, I can live with them on bare legs.
About the reports, for whatever reason, the gaping is not unflattering. I have no idea why, I think it is because it looks intentional. Check Suz's threads. I think Rae has them as well.

Oh Una...I really hate chiming in here but I don't really like them for you. I do like the shape of the toe and how the colour darkens there and they look nice with the trousers. But I don't like them for skirts/dresses. The height bothers me for some reason - I'd like them to be either shorter or taller in the shaft. They seem a kind of awkward "in between". Sorry...

Wow, now I'm confused! Interesting feedback, especially because I actually liked these with the zipper and in-between height. But my eyes never seem to see quite right compared to all of you!

I do like the Report booties on others, but I did not want a nude boot in suede, since not only would I ruin them immediately, but I think suede would feel less summery to me.

Shannon, I'm looking specifically for a low boot, so sounds like you think I need to go shorter. The shorter I go, the bigger the ankle gapping in general - how to solve this problem?

Is it even reasonable to expect a boot in this style to be wearable with both skirts/dresses and pants?

Seriously Una - I am nowhere near any sort of expert when it comes to boots, so please take my comments with a grain of salt. If I were you, I'd wait and see what Angie chimes in with - she has killer correct eyes!

My boots for shorts are MIA Buckaroos - I actually wanted to suggest them to you, since they run wide, but I only found them in white 6.5. But maybe you'd be interested in white? That's the color I wanted at first but went with nude instead.

I like them; the color is great. I don't think they are "actively unflattering," but I kinda like the gap-on-purpose look with shorts and skirts. But I can see how the boots Rae mentioned would work better as shorts boots, since the shaft seems like it hugs the leg.

Rae, are those the ones you're wearing under trousers in your work outfits recently? Or do you have some other pair? And what is your calf circumference again? Thanks for the input! Those remind me of my grey boots that fold over and can be worn up or down.

I like them! And being a fellow skinny calfer (12.25") I understand the 'as long as it's not UNflattering' sentiment. The bare leg look takes some getting used to for me, but with pants it's a no brainer.

The ones I wear under trousers are the Docs Marcies in Sand. I don't see them on the Dr. Martens site anymore, but I think there are some on Ebay. They are a lace-up boot.

My calves are 14", but my ankles are barely 9". Where the buckaroos hit on my leg, it's about 11" around.

I plan on wearing my Marcies (brown) with shorts -- I like the way they fit around the calf.

I am loving them with your tomboy shorts style. I just pinned a bunch of these looks for myself for summer. I hope I can rock the look as good as you do. Summer concerts, cookouts, bonfires and treks, here I come.

I have a poison eye for cowboy boot work outfits -- sorry no comment on that

I like them and I think they will shape themselves to your ankles with wear. But, the color of the zipper does bother me a bit - it seems like the same color zipper as on my taupe ones, which are quite a bit darker. Maybe they think they'll darken with age
