K/R: Halogen knit moto vs. Spiegel leather jacket

I tried on the Spiegel leather jacket in size 4 in this unstyled K/R. I was pretty sure I was going to return, but several of you said you actually liked it on me, and after seeing it on others, the silhouette is kind of growing on me. So I thought I'd give it a second chance and try it styled to see what you think. Also I tried the Amber Sun ponte moto jacket but it was a bit tomboy for me. Rae suggested I try the Halogen knit moto jacket (1-6, 9-10) instead. What do you think? It's a lot more cropped and fitted through the waist and sleeves, which I prefer. I can wear it as a soft blazer at work, but also use it as a MOTG casual jacket. It's like a more stylish version of the REI black fleece jacket I used to wear a lot pre-YLF. I'm pretty sure I'm keeping the Halogen. but the question is whether I should also keep the Spiegel jacket (7-8, 11-12) too? Is that too redundant to have a knit and a leather jacket in the same style?

ETA: I just realized that the knit jacket is Halogen, not Caslon! Whoops--I'll correct the post. Caslon makes a similar moto hoodie.

I do like the Caslon on you. I think the spiegeleisen collar is larger and lower than ideal for your frame.

Distracted by a little foreground detail in your photos. But just what unfrumped said is my beef wuth the Spiegel on you. Things just are not in the best proportions.

Hm, I prefer the Caslon with the looser skirt, but I prefer the Spiegel with the form-fitting skinny jeans. I suppose that means a vote for the Caslon, since you need something you can wear to work!

I really the Caslon and it suits your style persona. I think the leather is a bit overwhelming for you. Return and hold out for a sleeker leather moto later on.

I like the Caslon much better than the Spiegel. The lapels on the Spiegel look too big. There is a better leather jacket out there for you!

Thanks everyone for your input! Well, I think you are right, the Caslon is better suited to my body than the Spiegel. And I didn't even post the side views where Spiegel looks even baggier on me. At least I can put this issue to rest and mail everything back now! Although I emailed them about getting a return label and it's been several days and no response. Their CS leaves a LOT to be desired.

Mani, LOL about the foreground detail. As you can see he's rolling a lot now, almost ready to crawl and he just turned 5 months. I keep hearing the Rawhide theme song in my head when I see him..."Rollin' rollin' rollin', keep those doggies rollin'...."

I think the Spiegel and Caslon are very different. And while the Caslon is flattering, maybe edging out the Spiegel, I find it a little... relaxed for your style. If you could only keep one, I'd actually go with the Spiegel.

I think the Caslon does have better proportions for you but I wonder about the tightness of the sleeves after reading the reviews and noticing the line showing your short sleeve top under the jacket sleeve. Could you/would you wear it over long sleeves? I imagine it's soft enough but will it look lumpy? Does that matter?

I think the Spiegel is more of a cold weather jacket and the Caslon looks like an early autumn or indoor jacket.

I love the Caslon on you. The Spiegel is OK, I like it best with the jeans outfit. But if you only have room for one, keep the Caslon.

I think the Caslon is a 10. I don't care for the Speigel on you with the skirt but I do like it with jeans. So it depends on if you could use a leather jacket for casual jean days IMO.

I love them both for different reasons but I am leaning away from the leather. The fabric jacket just fits you better -- it does not seem to overwhelm your figure.

Rachy, I actually like the relaxed style. It's fitted (which I prefer to baggy) but soft.

Texstyle, I'm wearing the jacket over a sleeveless shell in the skirt outfit, and a long sleeve top (3/4 sleeve) in the jeans outfit. I didn't notice a line before, but I'll look more closely. The sleeves are very fitted, but since it's soft and stretchy it doesn't feel constricting.
Denise and AviaMariah, I agree the Spiegel looks a little better with the jeans compared to the Halogen, but overall I think the Halogen will be more versatile.

Lyn & Florence, the skirt was from Rachel Roy from last year's NAS. I got the earrings separately from Nordstrom (don't remember the brand) about 6 months before. I was excited that the skirt matched the earrings perfectly! It's like my Bobeau polka dot skirt that matches my Kate Spade diaper bag exactly--fun to find exact matches randomly!
