K/R Cashmere sweater

Here is my dilemma. I love the color of this and it is super soft. I originally was concerned about the collar, but after seeing Day Vies rock similar collars, I decided to try it.

My huge concern is perfect length. As a pear, Angie has great guidelines on where tops should end, and this ends in the bad zone. My recently acquired baby pooch is in rare form. I am really leaning towards returning because of the length issue and looking for perfect fit. Am I on the right track?

I think you are. What might help is something similar but with a more asymmetric hemline - will see if I can find an example.

So, exactly how much do you love it? If you love it other than the length, I may be able to help you. I knit, so I know yarn. Cashmere has a lot of give in it. If you want it to be longer, then mist it with a little water (a spray bottle is my best friend for this sort of thing!). Then tug it into the longer length that you want. That may cause a very slight shift in the sweater shape by making it a tad narrower, but it will make it much longer. Often, with a cashmere sweater, I can get at least an inch and sometimes two by doing this. If you want to know more about it, just google "blocking sweaters."

Beautiful color and that neckline is gorgeous on you too! I would lean toward returning for a longer length sweater -- so that you can move about and have the sweater inch up and still be long enough to not be tugging it down.

I'm a firm believer in blocking, but I don't think I'd buy a new sweater that needed blocking. I usually reserve that for things I already own that are shorter than current styles, and for thrifted items I haven't spend much on.

Can this sweater be sized up at all? It just might have the extra length and not get too big other places.

I also "block" sweaters with much success... didnt know there was actually a word for this! But, typically not something brand new I paid a decent chunk of money for. The color is lovely and I like it otherwise though.

I a going to listen to my gut and my own advice to others. It is not perfect, I shouldn't settle for it. There will be other sweaters, and I should probably start saving for the NAS!

You can manipulate the length on this type of top. As a matter of fact, I seldom, if ever, wear my sweaters perfectly pulled down like that. I scrunch them a little or allow them to stay at whatever length they settle on, as I wear them thru the day. I don't fidget with my clothes, a big pet peeve of mine. You can also fold over the front portion, like a faux tuck.
You can try that before returning.

Late to comment thistle but absolutely! Never try to make something work or justify it if it's not an alteration that removes like shortening or taking in. It's harder to make things longer.

It's a beautiful color on you and a great neckline. I usually "scrunch" my sweaters at the bottom and don't wear them all the way pulled down like Zap says, so try that first. Also, what are the chances you will be wearing this under a topper like a cardigan or blazer? That may make a difference.

Side note on your jeans project: Have you heard of New York and Company? Go try their denim. Their cut is really flattering for pears and hourglasses.

I second Zap's comment about "scrunching" top bottoms. It may not make the final difference here, but it could make some of your current items lay differently.

It is soo frustrating when everything is so nice except the length!
Worn with a scarf or topper you may be happier, but I would probably hold out for something better and regretfully return.

Good decision Thistle. Finding your length is an important step and when you have it, you will be able to judge items quickly for hitting your sweet spot or not. Go try on a ton, take pictures, and let's find the best length for you!
