K/R: Can booties with ankle cutouts be a little flower-pottish? ETA more photos

My Jeffrey Campbell Outliers arrived and I love the toughness of the look. http://www.freepeople.com/outl.....785348570a But the photos on the site are angled in such a way that you can't see the space between the ankle and the front "panel" of the bootie.

Is it okay for these to gap somewhat because of the openness of the style? What do you think?

Well, as you know from my other thread, I am having this exact same problem so I'm interested in the replies here! I was really hoping that the ankle cutout would make the gaping seem more intentional.

Yours look OK here but will you always wear them with black tights? My problem is that I want mine to work with bare ankles so there's always more contrast to begin with.

Can you get a pic from the side? I find the biggest problem for me is that most boots gape at the back (even though my heel fits correctly at the sole) which just makes them look too big.

Those are SO freaking cool, but I worry that there is too much of a gap. How do they feel when you walk? And ditto Diana: Will they always be worn with black tights, and can you take a picture from the side?

I don't think the front panel is meant to be *too* close to the ankle/shin, because then it would be hitting you when you walked, but are these too far away?

Right now I'd wear with socks, but would hope they could be worn without as well.

I'm afraid they do look a bit too gapey to me. Not as bad as mine though if that's any consolation, because I think your FOOT takes up more room than mine, so your gaping is mostly just an ankle thing. Yours don't look too big the way mine do, just too wide at the ankle.

I love my Everlys and don't find them flowerpot-ish at all, and I have slim ankles.

Ceit, I really love the look of these and you should try them! They are narrower across the toe area than I thought would work comfortably for me (if I kept these, I was going to use my shoe stretcher) so be warned if you have a wider foot. I don't have wide feet all around but have "bunion width" on my right foot that must be accommodated.
