K/R Burgundy sweaters - YouLookFab Forum

I’m searching for a replacement for a purple sweater that is unfortunately too small. I ordered some things online to try out. Only two have arrived so far, and they are more burgundy than I had wanted.

Item 1, photos 1-5 burgundy v neck sweater. I think it is not purple enough to go with my scarf. It is comfortable and soft.

Item 2, photos 5-9, Burgundy open front cardigan. Photo 5 shows the two pieces together. The others are dresses or skirts I might wear it with. Photo 8 shows a close up of the cardigan and striped pattern. The color is very close to the darker stripe, but it is the least visible color in the dress from farther away.

Photo 10 is the sweater I am replacing.

Does this color work or should I keep looking?

I have more items coming, but the more purple shade of the v neck was cancelled, out of stock.

WOW. See how much better you look in burgundy than black, and how well it works when black is accented with the burgundy. It's mind-blowing to my eye.

Both items look great, and work well with the purple scarf.

I like the burgundy and think it works well with the scarf and other items in your closet.
Both the sweater and cardigan look good to me.
Great additions and I agree with Angie about the burgundy looking better than the black.

Keep keep. They are both great on you, fellow burgundy lover. The v neck fits so well; I really like the depth of the v and that it isn’t too boxy. Looks great tucked and untucked. Do you have a Find?

Another vote for keeping both. Burgundy definitely is one of your colors.

I like the burgundy on you just as well as the purple. I also vote that you keep both sweater and cardigan. When the other items arrive you may find that you like the burgundy best.

I don’t think I’ve ever found anything good in my brick and mortar Penney’s, but have had luck when ordering online. The black and white dress is a past purchase from there as well.

Your purple sweater is a wonderful color for you, but burgundy looks great on you, too, and the fit of the vee neck is perfect for you! On my screen, the burgundy vee neck looks good with your purple sweater. I've been pleasantly surprised to discover how well burgundy can work with the right shades of purple.

I echo others in saying these are both great options — the burgundy looks really nice on you, both sweaters fit well, and they integrate seamlessly with the items you already own.

I will say that the burgundy v-neck does not quite qualify as a replacement for the purple sweater, to my eye. The burgundy seems like a near-neutral, while the purple is definitively color. (Also I think the burgundy is fab on you but the purple is beyond fab.) That purple will probably be a more elusive shade but I hope you will keep looking for it.

SarahD8 - a purple top remains on my list as a HEWI, though I am flexible on what the style is. I am still waiting on a purple shell to arrive that I think will be closer to the color I was looking for. I’m hoping that with ultra violet being the Pantone color of the year that I’ll have more options to choose from.

These are wow! Like you, I am hoping to add some purple into my spring/summer wardrobe this year. I have my fingers crossed, given Pantone's color of the year, that purple will be more readily available, especially warm purples.

The burgundy pieces are not like the purple you are looking for, but they look good on you and work well with your other pieces. Keep them and see if you can find the purple as well.
