K/R burgundy cords

I've wanted burgundy pants since joining YLF a bit over a year ago. Yesterday I came across a nearly ideal pair at Target. The only non-idea part - they're a size bigger than my ideal. Are they too big, or is the slouchiness okay?

Do you think they're a worthwhile purchase? I like them, but I also suspect that colored skinnies are pretty much on their way "out".

I also bought cobalt in my size (burgundy of my size was sold out), which I'll take pics of soon. But I'm losing light quite quickly right now.

Full disclosure: I have a poison eye for cordurory pants (see? I don't even know how to spell cordurory) - so, that being said, I don't think there is anything worse in the 'world of style' than an ill-fitting pair of cords.

Take these off right now Amiable and return as soon as possible - hold out for your perfect pair of burgandy pants - and let's see the cobalt!

I love my skinny burgundy cords! These are definitely not a skinny fit on you, so if that's what you're looking for, they're a no go. I would like to see the cobalt cords for comparison. You have long, thin legs, but I'm not feeling it in this size, but as Deb suggested, they may shrink to the perfect fit.

Yeah - I thought so Marley - thank you so much for your honesty! The cobalt fit better, but I'm not completely sold on corduroy - I think I'd prefer denim. Except that denim is cold when the weather is cold, and corduroy is warmer.

And if they shrink, then I'm likely to lose length, and I don't want to lose ANY length on these. So back they go. I'll take pics of the blue asap.

I actually like some corduroy, especially super fine wale, but I am afraid I still very much agree with Marley. They are not worthy of you. I would look for a coated skinny burgundy pair, like these:

I hear you, Amy, on warm corduroy. You might look for "whaleless corduroy" which is essentially a more durable version of velveteen. It would be very 60's posh on you -- which you would do beautifully.

I love my wine cords. Wore them just yesterday, as a matter of fact. But I do like a skinny fit in cords. It takes it away from any frumpy associations IMO. I have purged both a wide leg and bootcut pair of cords since.

I agree that returning is probably the best option on these. When I saw the first pic, I thought, "Those are too big." And that was before I even read that you had bought a size up.

There is some corduroy that is not so "vintage." I was in the Gap a while ago, and the SA had on some pants that looked like velvet with very fine lines. She told me that they were actually corduroy! I was quite stunned. So the size of the "whaling," as they call it, really affects the appearance.
