K/R BR trousers - YouLookFab Forum

I ordered some banana republic trousers for the first time. I’m delighted with the quality of these trousers but need a size down. Exchanging is such a hassle and I won’t keep them all, so may I ask your opinions already, even though I’ll have to reassess fit in the correct size?

1/ avery pants in a blue stripe: classic cropped style
2/ sloane culottes in black and white gingham - I’m getting so used to culottes seeing them here so often, but irl I’m doubtful they’re flattering (and versatile) enough, I won’t always wear them with dainty heels
3/ olive pantalon, really like the weight of this fabric but I think this shade of olive might not work well with the rest of my color palette

Btw if anyone wants to know, I returned everything from my previous order of pants.

The culottes aren't quite short or wide enough to have culotte drama IMO, and the belt loops and crease also make them look more like trousers (not sure if the latter will come out). I like both the ankle pants better, will be curious to see the smaller size if you post. I really like that shade of olive (or "kale" as I think Pantone calls it) but it is definitely greener than some so perhaps less of a functional neutral. I also want the stripes for myself

The olive ones are by far my favourite! They look awesome on you.
The others look good too. I don't think the middle pair are culottes though.
Thanks for telling us you returned the others. I'm interested in other's shopping patterns.

I'm no help--I like all of them on you. On second look, though, I don't love the olive ones so much.

My favorites are number 2 and number 3. I understand that olive might not work with your color palette, but they do look really good on you. My suggestion is don't compromise. Now that you are learning about the fit, try for a color that works better for you.

Another vote for #2 and #3. FABULOUS. Are you sure you need a size down?

The Avery fit is for a curvy figure. You do better with a straighter cut like the Sloane or Ryan.

Love #2. I have a soft spot for cropped wide leg pants.

Do you have a find for those? I've looked at both the .ca and .com pages and don't see anything like this in black/white gingham.

These are great, altho yes, 1 looks big... probably that curvy cut.

Thanks everyone. I will look for 3, which is apparently the ryan, in a different color. This one fit best in the ordered size. 2 hangs on my hips with the crotch point too low, I think. Have to admit that 2 is still my favorite (for summer). I did not add finds because I ordered these from a local web retailer and indeed did not find these exact styles on the BR website (eu or us)... maybe last year’s clearance...

First ones are my favorites.
But it's hard to tell with the bigger size.
They're all nice. I was going to ask:

(How do you feel about the fact they are low-mid rise?)

Until I saw your last comment about the pants hanging too low due to their larger size. I think they are also cut low. The lower rises might not be as current, although the 3 pairs look good on you. It's something to consider.

Krishnidoux: good question. You are right: they are not the most current cut, even in a smaller size they would be midwaist at best. I’m tempted by the quality and the discount but this shouldn’t blind me!

And comfort, Liesbeth. I don't think they have to be the most current style if a lower cut is more comfortable on your body. I thought they looked great on you.

#2 and #3 for me. I love the Sloane and Ryan fit on me. Great quality as well.
