k/r BR toppers show down - YouLookFab Forum

i've been looking for toppers that will keep me from freezing in the arctic ac and help the transition to true fall. i've been looking for non blazers as i want to lighten up my business casual look. i've found a couple of contenders from BR, and i'd like some feedback on fit, styles and versatility. i've been wearing a lot of white and navy for spring. the first 4 are jackets and the 5th is more of a sweater.

(please ignore the wrinkles, this is how they came from BR and i didn't steam them out for the try on session).

I'm not sure how these fit in the rest of your wardrobe, but if I was buying, I would probably buy contrasting styles to give me a range of options - so one structured, one unstructured; one shorter, one longer. Of the ones shown here, I like the bomber jacket the best, and then the longer cardigan for contrast. They both seem like they fit well across the shoulders, and they seem like they could give you a number of different options for business casual outfits.

I'm iffy on the fit of the gray moto and green military jackets across the shoulders when I see the pictures from the back; perhaps someone with a better eye can give you an opinion? I like the safari jacket, but it seems like it would be the most fussy for wearing inside as a topper. I'd be more comfortable wearing a style like that as actual outerwear. Your preferences may vary, of course!

You have great taste in jackets! Out of the whole lot, I like the safari jacket and the sweater the best. Mostly for the colors and the length. I like style of the moto too. The green jacket seems a little dark and I'd like it to be longer. The bomber jacket is quite casual and the contrast seems to overpower you a bit.

I love the moto jacket and the sweater jacket on you! I agree with Dottie on the bomber jacket. It seems too high contrast for you. The military jacket seems too big and dark on you. I like the safari jacket, but it seems more of an outdoor jacket.

Rizamie, I was unsur of the fit On the green jacket, when i posted the find,I saw that it was available in petites, I'm wondering if it would be worth ordering to compare., although,that would also mean it would be shorter.
Dottie, the bomber is the one most outside of my normal work looks. interresting that you thought it overwhelmed. Thanks so much for the feedback

My fave is #1, but I'm not sure it would keep you warm because it's so short.

I really like the first one and the last one on you. I want to like the safari jacket, but the belt strap just seems overwhelmingly huge. If you only keep one, I'd go for the last one.

The first and last have a similar colour and vibe ( zipper, collar, asymmetrical closing) and they both look great on you.
I think the second one looks more like outerwear.
The green one fits fine but maybe the petite would be the better option. How does that colour of green work in your wardrobe?
I love the 2 tone moto - it's a different silhouette and fits well. Maybe style it with a few outfits before you make up your mind on it. It might be a bit long though.

#10 looks most like "you" and the drape and neckline are very flattering.
You might still want some kind of safari jacket--I love the style--but I would hold out for a different one.

missvee, interesting that the safari jacket comes off as outwear…part of why i posted was i thinking that the olive jacket and the bomber jacket had slightly outerwear feels, and i was wondering if others saw it that way--didnt mention it in my original post as i didn't want to lead the witness.

1, 8 and 10 are so fab on you. The others just don't grab me. The cut and colour of the other two just look too "heavy" for you.

I'm with Carter the first and last one look good on your frame.the safari looks too busy straps pockets and buttons but that might be my poison eye.

I like these on you. I personally like 10/11 the best.

I saw a woman today in a jacket cut like a jean jacket, but the fabric was more either ivory denim or canvas. I'll see if I can find something, and I'll come back to add a Find, if so. I think the denim jacket cut will be a bit longer on you than the jacket in 1/2 and hit the casual vibe of the safari jacket. With the sleeves rolled up just a titch, you'll still have the warmth of the layer, but the structure of the wristbone peeking out.

I also saw a woman yesterday in our 65 degree Seattle "summer" wearing an ivory cashmere vintage sweater with a light blue knee length skirt. I.e., like you, her color choices spoke to warm weather but the fabrications kept her cozy.

I like 8 and 10 on you, both look really nice, and fit well. I don't mind 1, not crazy on a safari jacket, ever, poison eye I guess. The green is OK bu t not special.

Angie - thanks for chiming in. #1 is petite, I think my local store has the regular size in stock, so I'll see if I can try that on this week.
I'm leaning towards the olive jacket....

Annabelle- thanks for the suggestions. Fab minds think alike. I actually bought a coated navy denim jacket earlier this spring, (it was an Angie top pick, and I fell in love with it the minute she posted it)
