K/R: BR silk tunic - YouLookFab Forum

I'd love your opinion on this. The top itself is lovely... washable silk, fits well, feels fab. I stalked it for ages until a "no exclusions" sale came on at BR. But I admit to struggling a bit with styling a top this long in the summer - no problem in winter with skinnies!

Here are a few quick trys. If it works with three things, it's a keeper.

1-2. Over wide culottes

3. Over black slim ankle pants

4-5. Over slim capris

6. Heck, why not try over white jeans too. Not sure about this, I think it needs slimmer legs (the pants as well as mine ) but while I'm at it...

Anybody know my wardrobe well enough to suggest anything else I have? Black slim skirt maybe? I am unlikely to wear jeans when I want to wear a sleeveless top.

I think it looks great over slim bottoms. You could definitely try it with a tube skirt. Do you still have a striped one? Or cobalt?

I find tops this length difficult to wear in general, as you know, but some years ago I had one a similar length in silk from BR -- I ended up wearing it semi-tucked in the front, and loved it.

I like it best with the white capris . Proportions look right to my eye . What about some printed bottoms ? I can’t remember what you have there .....

Tube skirt was the first thing I thought, so I"m with Suz on that one. I prefer it with a slimmer bottom, I think, but that is a personal style thing. The back is really nice (the split)!

Oh, patterned bottoms would be great.

I do still have my tube skirts, but they are all black and white. Do you think hte navy top would go with a black and white one? I dunno... I'm all for the mixing of navy and black but think that might look like a mistake rather than intentional.

I also have the slim capris (4/5) in cobalt.

I have a navy and white patterned skirt but not sure it'll work... I'll try that tonight.

Great tunic, I prefer with slimmer bottom, with black pants and especially with white capris.

I like it in all the pics but my favorites are the white and the black slim pants. Love the shoes in those too. Do you have any floral/patterned bottoms with some black in them? I just grabbed these from Finds, but There are a tone of options out there right now.

The top works as styled, and I agree with karen13 regarding the fab footwear. Interestingly, I was more taken with 'you': great hair, skin, shape. So maybe the top is doing it's job highlighting fabulous you, in a complimentary way rather than being a signiture piece?

*FWIW, I just LOVE really dark blue (ink, navy, whatever) with black.

I like all but will put in a vote for the culottes. Love that whole ensemble.

I’m on team Capri and trying print. Agree # 1 looks off a bit ( both loose instead of 1 or other- maybe)

All renditions work nicely, though I like the white capris best for the mix of crisp and flowy. I think the top would be fine with your black and white tube skirt; could always pop navy footwear (and then I'd vote white jewelry) on so the navy feels a little more intentional across the outfi. For wearing with black a la #3, I want a liiiiiitle more ankle showing. Would be lovely paired with white, cognac, citron, and red all of which I know you wear and wear well

Thanks you all for your input! I discovered at lunchtime today that my dd had her year end concert tonight , and I’d been left off all the emails. So my night took a different turn than expected and I didn’t have any time to play more in my closet.

Definitely leaning towards keep, even if I only wear them with the white and black slim bottoms. I may keep an eye out for navy based patterned pants, thanks for the idea karen13 and lisap.
Agree Aida, a. It more ankle would balance the sleevelessness better. I can do that with a little fold under.
Carla, what a nice thing to say. “They” say if you notice the person not the clothes then the clothes are a good match for the person. So I guess it’s a win!

Tube skirt was my first thought too. Maybe some dark wash denim? Leggings and statement footwear?

It looks like one of those things that might take a while to figure out, but when you do it'll be a workhorse.

I'm another keep. I really wearing sleeveless silks during the summer months. This one is both beautiful and interesting with the split back.

I am always challenged wearing this length as well so I completely understand the quandary. And it may look less intentional with your stripped skirt .....

I like the ideas of tube skirts and slim bottoms with statement footwear.
