K/R: BR cream silk blouse (and 2 others)

I went to return the teal leather jackets to Neiman Marcus and the old-lady black sequin jacket to AE today. While at the mall, I somehow ended up buying three blouses.

The first is a cream silk sheer blouse from BR. They were having a 40% off sale. I have been really wanting a slightly oversized, sheer cream blouse like Anna's. This is one size up from my normal size (which they did not have in the store, so I couldn't try it). What do you think of the fit? Too big/slouchy or just right? I think my regular size might fit better on top but would be too tight over the hips. The weird line in back is from my cami, which is not the world's best cami (my good white camis seem to be all in the wash). I don't usually buy blouses without collars so I'm a little unsure of the neckline on me. And I'm sure someone will mention this, so I'll say up front that I like my sleeves to be a little too long so the sleeve length does not bother me. K/R/X for a different size? ETA: I can't find it in cream online and my store had very limited sizes, so exchanging might not be possible.

The other two are not really K/Rs, but I'll show them to you anyway. The printed one is a Liberty cotton Perfect Shirt from J Crew. It's actually 2 sizes up but Perfect Shirts are cut way too straight for me so I need a much bigger size to get the hips to fit. I know it's a little boxy but I think it'll be fine with a jacket or sweater over. Plus, Liberty cotton! It was less than $50 and for that price, I'll sleep in it if you all hate it. Final sale anyway.

Last is a sheer plaid shirt from AE. I exchanged the old lady sequin jacket for it, so according to shoe math it is free. =P Obviously I would not wear it with the white cami underneath.

Keep the cream blouse. It's beautiful. I think the sizing up was a wise move.

I like the cotton one too. The sheer one I'm not so sure about, but maybe with a proper cami underneath I would see it differently.

Diana, fab haul. The white and the black are no brainers for me. The liberty print is not what I expect from you but you have that romatic, somewhat quirkly element that I think will make that shirt work well for you.

Um, so I should add that I definitely have a Sugar Eye for liberty prints, particularly the small ditsy florals. I know they're a little sweet for my style but I don't care.

I really like the liberty blouse on you. Not 100% on the cream blouse. Though I'm hugely flattered that you want something that I have.

I love the fit on the liberty print. I am a little bothered by the way the shoulders fall on the white blouse - a little wide but not wide enough to be really oversized. But I think it depends on the styling. I think you will totally be able to work the liberty print.

I would try one size up in the white blouse to make it really oversized - like this it reads just big to me.
If you like Liberty print then I don't know how you can go wrong with it

I love the cream blouse, but I think you are right that the next size down would probably fit better. I love the black blouse!

I would pass on the cream blouse - the sleeves and shoulders look too big, but a smaller size will pull, I think.

I am SUCH a sucker for those liberty print blouses. I support you all the way! And I think the sheer blouse will look great with a proper cami.

So here is the model photo showing how they intend the blouse to fit. I don't really want such a close fit, but I'm wondering if I need to find something designed to be oversized instead. (As an aside, aren't you proud of me that I didn't go for teal???)

Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be able to find this in the other sizes in cream. It's available in red and teal only online, and there was no 8 or 12 in the store.

I like the last two. The fit of the cream blouse looks awkward to me. I often have the same fit problem over the hips and at the shoulders.

I LOVE the liberty print on you. I think it fits well. I like the black plaid quite a lot, too.

And while I adore the idea of the cream top, the fit just doesn't look right to me. So I would hold out on that.

Maybe I'm not the best person to speak to fit/proportions, but I actually like the blouse on you as is. I like the way it skims the body rather than being oversized actually, and the shoulder fit isn't too far out of line to bother me --- but then take this under advisement: I usually have the opposite fit issue of shoulder lines pulled inward compared to the ideal.

Love Liberty prints too, so go ahead and sleep in it if you like I'd love to!

The plaid, I suspect, is a far more flattering colour than the lighting is letting on here.

Love the last two as perfect fit, please keep! Cream blouse is not your best fit, you can do better, or alter...(what bothers me MOST is the extra length in the sleeves).

At the risk of being in the minority here, I like the cream blouse. I have a peach blouse not unlike it in shape, fabrication, and fit (that you might have inspired me to wear today) and I love the way it drapes over the body. I like the sleeves on you - like you, I, too, like long sleeves, although in my case the challenge is usually one of finding sleeves long enough! The neckline, which you asked about, does not bother me at all. I say keep, and experiment.

The Liberty print is delightful. Deb is right about it bringing out your quirky, romantic side! And the tartan sheer shirt is such a lovely color.

In all of these pictures, I am struck (again) by what nice hair you have, and how lovely it looks!

Cream blouse fits nicely in the torso but is too long in the sleeves :(. I vote return that one.

Thanks, Angie. Do you just mean that the length of the sleeves is too long (which I honestly don't really mind, plus I could cuff or roll them) or that they are just too big overall? I may try taking some photos with the sleeves cuffed when I get home tonight.

Diana, the sleeves are too long in length. It looks ill-fitting to my eye. It's not the type of sleeve that rolls well, either.

I think they can be french cuffed.

ETA: I see what you mean though. It's not about where the cuff ends, but how the excess fabric is pooling just above the cuff, right?

Anna, I like the second one you linked, but I would really prefer silk.

I should add that one reason I liked this one was that it has no breast pockets. Hence, why I didn't want any of the equipment shirts (plus the price).
