ETA: Added pic K/R boots - YouLookFab Forum

My beloved dark brown Old Navy boots finally cracked on me after 3 fall/winters.

What do you think of these two boots? Dark brown with quilting is Sketchers brand and other is G by Guess. I want to wear with both tucked in skinnies and casual skirts/dresses. (My calves are quite slender, so giving up on trying to fit them perfectly.)

G by Guess
Pro: full zippers on both sides, simple design = more styling versatility

Con: ankle sag

Sketchers
Pro: slightly higher front makes calf gap seem less noticeable, quilted back seems to help the structure of the boot from sagging too much, darker brown more versatile color for my wardrobe

Con: studs and quilting make it less versatile? OTT?

Based on what I can see here, I'm voting #2. I am not really digging the ankle sag in #1. Plus I like the quilting detail!

From what I can see, the Sketchers look like a more streamlined fit. Do they work with your wardrobe?

I just went through this exercise I think the quilted ones look better on you if I had to choose. Skinny jeans may fill in some of the space, and I don't like the ankle sagging of the other ones. However, I don't think either is close to perfect but you seem ready to accept that

I like Sketchers better that the other pair but honestly neither is a good fit on the top. Angie had a list of brands for narrow calves-have you tried any of those those?

Of the two, I think the dark brown is better but honestly I think both look substantially too big for you.

I think they are too big, AJ. Sorry! They need to be more fitted or else not as tall to my eye. I have had my share of boot disappointments, believe me....

The G by Guess boots look much too big to my eye, but I like the Skechers on you.

Much prefer the Sketchers! I like the quilting and the gapping isn't bothering me on these, although a closer fit would be nice. I understand the difficulties of fitting calves. I'm on the opposite end, of course, and find that cheaper (less than $100) boots with gussets, but not wide-calf fit me best. I imagine that finding a good fit for you would generally take a much bigger budget. Such is the way of boots "off the rack."

AJ, I too have narrow calves, but I think that you're going to be disappointed with these boots. You may not find something that has a perfect fit, but I think you can do better than these. Have you ever looked at this blog: http://littlecontessa.blogspot.com/? The gal who runs it has very narrow calves and has reviewed many pairs of narrow-calf boots. Maybe you could find something there?

Boots with a narrower calf are probably going to be more expensive, unfortunately. Are you able to afford a spendier pair?

My vote is for the Skechers between the two but I think there might be a better pair out there for you.

you deserve better boots than these. too much gap-age on both. unless it's an emergency, i would keep looking.

I'm not sure they are still available (or they might be available elsewhere) but they are a really good value. I wasn't sure about the back lacing (and making it tidy is a bit of an issue for me with my streamlined preferences) but it is super useful because you can adjust to just the right width, yet it looks sleek in the front. They are 100% leather, with leather lining and leather soles as well -- an unbelievable deal at the price (mine were even less than the price listed there.)

I wonder if it would be worth a search?

I love the textured ones, the most! Not only the texture, but I also find the fit better!
