So Angie's post got me thinking - is this 'fluidly tailored' on me or just oversized? To help me decide, vote YES for Keep/ NO for Return. Thank you for explanations too

Photos 1-8 of larger fit:
(1-2) Flower: shoulders - do they align OK?
(3-4) Smiley: double cuffed sleeves (shorter)
(5-6) Heart: original 'ninja' sleeves (deep cuff)
(7-8) Party popper: tucked in VS stretched (to see how much midriff is exposed IRL)

EDIT: Mask photos #9-15 are the new, smaller fit! (+ photos #16 & #17 of another cropped top for comparing the waist length - does the blue jumper's welted hem look OK on me in comparison?)

What do you think - should I size down (vote NO) or keep this version (vote YES)? I want a lightweight jumper to wear untucked with high-rise bottoms, but I'm worried the welt is a *smidge* too long on me for that. At the same time, I'm worried sizing down will cause the hem to be *too* short whenever I move my arms above my head Thoughts?

Ticked 'urgent' because I have my eye on some other items from Boden, so would like to order the new size (if need be) with the rest of the order today Thanks YLF!

Is there any reason not to try the size down to compare, i.e. can you order it with some other things and then send back what does not work, if you are possibly ordering again/ sending back anyway?

You appear to have a problem I sometimes have with voluminous sleeves...they can be a bit *too* voluminous on my slightly shorter arms. Like you, I often resort to rolling the cuff, which can work if it is comfy enough. I also sometimes just push sleeves up, for structure. Then the sleeve volume appears in a different place, which sometimes works and sometimes looks odd.

The shoulders on this look good. I think the length could go either way -- it depends how much difference there is between sizes. If you wear a light cami underneath it won't matter about lifting arms.

Though I know your climate is warm, so, FWIW.

The photos are angled in such a way that your legs look shorter than IRL so it is hard to tell how well it flatters you but I think this has a ton of potential for you. Gorgeous colour!

@Suz you're right, maybe I should just bite the bullet & order the UK12 size anyway? I'm just worried if I wait until that arrives, I could potentially miss the return window for this one instead Ah the trials & tribulations of (even free) international shipping!

I'm 16" from shoulder to natural waist but 20" from shoulder to my hips (just above where they start to widen). The current UK14 is 21.3" long but the UK12 is 20.9" long (thanks Boden, for providing garment measurements!) so maybe it will still be long enough to be flattering untucked?

Yes, my arms are somehow too short in western clothing brands but also too long for Chinese clothing brands haha The deep cuff isn't uncomfortable here, neither is the double cuff. Good shout-out on scrunching them up instead though - here's what that looks like (with a lower camera angle). Not uncomfy but can't push them up *too* far - too tight above 3/4 length.

You're right, a light cami could work - right now I'm not wearing one but something like this could work like a winterweight jumper here (to layer over things) but a spring/ transitional weather top when I'm back living in an 'actual' winter climate, lol

Yes, it totally helps! And scrunching the sleeves looks fine to my eye. I really like the jumper on you.

I wonder if you could chat with customer service and tell them your dilemma -- you want to buy one but aren't 100% sure on the size -- will they allow you to send this one back in lieu of the other if that is your decision. They might be understanding -- you never know. It's awfully hard to tell with online orders.

I think you could go a size down without worry. Looking at the shoulder photos, I see extra fabric between the shoulder and bust, and in the other photos, the sweater looks fairly roomy overall. I think the size down would be a fluid fit. I like Suz's suggestion about calling customer service about the return window dilemma, though, so you could compare the two sizes .

No new advice, but I wanted to say the scrunched sleeve looks great, and I love this colour for you! Good luck sorting out the size question.

Thanks - teal is always a tricky colour to gauge on-screen VS in real life, but I feel like this one was fairly true to the model photos!

...along with that fabulously practical orange puffer coat we saw on Nikki of midlifechic (on the YLF blog this week) Both it & the inner coat ticked too many HEWI boxes to say no!

Yes, I usually suck it up & buy multiple sizes from the outset, but I thought I'd be safe this time because of the garment measurements. Oh well - thankfully shipping is free!

UPDATE: The smaller size is now here! I've edited the original post to show both versions - what do you think?

I feel the sleeves fit better in the smaller version but am still unsure about the hem length - I tucked it under in some photos (& added the black crop top) for comparison.

I think this sweater is probably a better size for you. How is it when you raise your arms? Plus, you bought the orange puffer!!!!!! Pictures!!!!!! Envious!

It hits right at my natural waist when raised - thankfully I've got high-rise enough bottoms enough to accommodate that though!

Sadly the orange puffer is going back - too oversized & warm for my climate, & the inner lining is attached with some rather fiddly buttons. I'll post a review with photos soon - but for now, lunch!

I love this size on you. It seems to me this is how it is meant to fit and what a gorgeous colour for you. The sleeves are way better on this size, for sure, and I think this is probably the correct length.

@Suz Thank you - 'Teal Limits' were my words for the year 2022, so I think it's fitting that this is actually the *only* thing I'm keeping from this Boden haul. 'Baltic blue' is indeed a gorgeous teal blue

The size small is the way to go, Zaeobi. It’s a great fit and a gorgeous color on you. I have a long torso, and find 20-21 inches a great length in tops to wear with high -rise bottoms.

Thanks, everyone - smaller size it is then! I'm glad the YLF hive mind is here to be the voice of reason when it comes to trendier fits (i.e. whether it looks fluid or sloppy on me). Now the not so fun bit, to pack it all up...

I (think) I'm a short-waisted petite, so my natural waist is actually 16" from my shoulders - whilst I usually prefer crop tops to hit there (for waist definition), this 20" length hits just above my widest point (my hips) so I'd say it's JFE (but still practical for raising my arms, as @CarolS pointed out).

Thanks! At least I can close 2022 with a teal HEWI, even if I didn't find much teal this year (retailers still don't have much teal green...)
PS - If you like crop tops with 'big' sleeves, the top below comes in a red/ burgundy & ditsy floral, if you're interested? I found the Ecovera viscose comfortably breathable...

Thank you, it's actually layered over a dress As I said to @SF, the burgundy colour way would look smashing on you!
I'll be returning it though because I feel the extent of the open back is misrepresented in the model photo (I was expecting a keyhole!)

I much prefer the smaller one too. I know it probably will ride up a little if you life your arms very high…. But I think that’s just what happens with this style sadly.

@Jussie It's all good - I can deal with it rising up to my natural waist in the smaller size, because I've already got high waisted bottoms that stop around there

Plus it makes more sense to wear an inner layer with a cropped jumper anyway - my milder winter (subtropical climate) means I can get away with just that (no extra topper).
