Was wondering what you thought about these dresses. Interested in your thoughts on FIT. I’m actually happy with the length.

I am happy with the colours, and fabrics are right up my alley.

Perfect fits, perfect colours, perfect Summer fabrics, and sublime quality. Can't go wrong.

(You don't want linen dresses too tight because they crease and shrink during the day. I like the room here).

I personally like them both on you. I like the first with the belt and the second with the jeans (looks good without the jeans too). I don’t know when it happened that I became someone who likes dresses with pants, but I’ve bought in.

Delurked you’re funny. I have secretly liked dresses with pants since Trinny (of what not to wear) wore them like that in the 90s.

Keep both!! Fantastic colours on you. I agree that summer dresses need to be on the loose side or you won't reach for them.

THanks Karen. The colour is actually a pinky-red — I think the yellow light distorts the colour a bit

That shirt dress is such a gorgeous colour on you and the checked one with the white jeans is such a lovely ,modern retro summery look and it’s obviously versatile in that you can wear it with and without trousers.Great find.

I love the first one on you the best.
The second one looks nice but it looks like the checks match up is off and that bothers me a little. If you are cool with it then that’s ok too.

I agree that you should keep both. They both look great, and they will both play different roles in your wardrobe. You have to choose I do prefer the first one on you by little, but I love the second with the white jeans, which increases the versatility factor.

I like both of these on you but if I had to pick up one I would go with the gingham. Guess I am thecontrarian It's more interesting to my eye.

Just FYI. If the reference to the checks not matching is referring to the sleeves they will never match because you have to have easing in the top of the sleeve to shape the sleeve so that you can move.

LYNN- your FYI is understood- I have done professional sewing and as such I know the stripes or checks on sleeves ( and other seams) won’t all or always match.
I was looking at the side view picture - from what I see it looks like it starts out ok but when your eye lowers it looks off. It could just be my view of picture ( how the dress is hanging in pic) and in reality they all match . That is why I stated it as I did. SMITTIE has to be happy with it not me.
There have been many times I have found seams with stripes or checks not matched up on garments of various quality and/or price points. As a person who sews , it irks me. But some folks don’t seem bothered by it and that is fine.
I agree both dresses are lovely and while I like the first best, I thought I would just point out what I saw.

I didn’t notice the mismatch but yes, it’s there! Good eye! It doesn’t brother me because the print is pretty small and it’s at the side seam. If the mismatch were at the back, that might bother me.

Anyway, I kept both, brought them home and ironed them. Too dark to take pics but I am loving the longer one a lot! I still have to get used to the extra fabric up top (this size is one or two sizes too big up top, in order to fit my hips), but I think it works because the fabric is substantial, so it sort of self-inflates (no boobs required!).

These both look gorgeous. I admit I was unsure about the longer shirt dress from the find, but I love it on you. And the gingham is super fun - you really look great in them both.
