K/R: Blue Boden Dresses - YouLookFab Forum

I just got three blue dresses in the mail from Boden and I'm trying to decide which should stay and which should go. I'm pretty sure I'm not keeping the blue/white dress, because I already have lots of florals, but which of the navy dresses should I keep?

Dress #1: Printed Cotton Dress. This picture is odd because I'm holding my breath. If I kept this, I'd need to exchange it for the next size up.

Dress #2: Casual Jersey Dress. On the one hand: I have two other dresses shaped like this, one solid black and one solid purple. On the other: I have two other dresses shaped like this because the shape works on me.

Dress #3: Sunny Day Dress. I ordered this in long because they were out of regular length. Is the length good as-is, or should I get it shortened it if I keep it?

(Please disregard the scary red blotches on my legs -- I managed to sunburn my feet this weekend. D: )

I think #2 is really lovely on you, as long as it's not too much cleavage for you comfort level. I can't quite tell from the photo. I really like #1, as well. I'm not as wild about #3 - something about the neckline isn't winning me over, but that may just be me.

I really like #2 on you, the deep V is very flattering. That one gets my vote, though it sounds like it may overlap the other two dark solid dresses you have. Does it maybe come in any prints or less dark colors that you like?

(I hope those poor feet heal soon, sunburned tootsies are no fun!)

I vote to keep #2! It is a great shape on you. Personally, I wear dresses a lot so having several solid neutrals in a flattering shape is something I would consider a plus. That neckline is nice for adding jewelry or scarves or a jacket for variety and you could probably repeat the dress more often. But if you don't wear dresses as much, it might be fun to have a different shape, and #3 has some more visual interest at the top. I agree, if you keep that one, you should shorten it a bit to the length of #2. That's just my 2 cents but can I just say, navy looks fab on you! Great dress options.

Like # 2! I also find something off about neckline 3 for you- the scoop and the contrast trim are doing something. # 1 has a nice shape but the floral is a bit ditsy- I think you'd look better in patterns with more verve.

I love #2 on you! The shape definitely works for you highlighting your curves. I think this could be another workhorse for you if you wear dresses frequently.

I think #2 looks great. You're right, the neckline is very flattering. I don't care as much for the neckline on #3, although I do think that dress fits well also (I would vote to shorten that one if you decide to keep). If you think #2 is too similar to the others in your closet, maybe you could see if it comes in a pattern? I've been noticing that if I want to duplicate a successful piece of clothing, having one item be a solid and having the other be a print makes them different enough that I don't feel like I'm duplicating (as long as the cut of the item is pretty simple on its own, as this dress is).

#2 is really flattering, but I'm partial to #1. I always think of #1 as a happy look. Makes me think of summer supper in the garden.

Thanks, everyone! I'm keeping #2 and sending back 1 and 3. I may go ahead and order another #2 in a lighter, summerier color and in a more graphical print since I have too many florals already.

(And the sunburn's healing up.
