I want to be cool like Anna (I have a long way to go), so I picked up a mint colored blouse today. I suspect the style of this one might be controversial. I won't say any more until I hear from you.

Is this a successful de-bombshelling of a pencil skirt? Other styling suggestions?

I fell hard for the pretty Old Navy bird blouse, but none are left for me, so I settled for this blouse from H&M. I like it, but am not sure how well it's going to fit into my wardrobe. I thought it might go with my navy blazer, but maybe not.

As always, I appreciate your comments and love to hear suggestions!

I mean this as a compliment and hope you take it as such. You have a naturally wholesome look that would counter bombshell without you trying too hard. You are very pretty but in a girl next door innocent kind of way.

Having said that, I like the first top and am not sure why it would be controversial. I wasn't sure about the color on you initially but it grew on me in seconds.

I really like your military blazer too.

I don't know about the color of the mint one - too pale for you? I tried to let it grow on me, like dianthus, but it's not working. Do you like it in natural light?
I love the bird print & it does work with the blazer - not sure about the shape of the blouse alone, though.

I really like the mint blouse on you Amy although it is not technically a great colour for you I suspect. The flowy nature of the blouse does indeed de-bombshell the pencil skirt. I even like the pearls with the outfit - makes everything very demure, in a good way. I would maybe make sure when wearing this mint colour next to your face to wear a brighter lipstick to ensure you don't look pale, if that makes sense. But I do love the blouse.

I'm afraid I'm not as keen on the bird print blouse. There's something about that narrow tie at the waist that isn't working for me. Sorry!

I love the first blouse - especially the way you've styled it with the pearls and pencil skirt (I must admit, I too want to be cool like Anna!) I think this outfit is giving you some "Anna coolness" factor. But, the 2nd blouse - not crazy about, alone, or with the jacket. The style - with that narrow tie hitting empire waist heighth just isn't doing it for me. But, I do love the pattern of the fabric!

Mmm mint (said in my best (worst?) Homer Simpson voice). I like mint shirt on you. I like the print on bird shirt but yeah don't like the string tie. How would it look if you left off the tie belt.

Overall, I'm not getting the sense that these are favorites...ok, but not great...is that accurate?

I love the styling of the mint bouse and pearls. You look so elegant and refined (flapper-esque?) in the flowy top and long knotted necklace. I'd like to see a more saturated color of mint on you. I LOVE the bird print fabric, but not loving the tie. I can never get these to work on me, so maybe I'm projecting. Nice to see you!

ETA: *wincing* ummm, yeah. Nice, but not great, IMHO. But then I return all of my tops, so take that with a grain of salt. Perfectionism is a pain to live with. :/

Mint is a bit of a poison-eye color for me. I'm trying to adjust but there seems to be a wide range of mint shades, and this looks a bit too light to me. The blouse style is fab, though. The bird blouse is cute but I agree the tie takes it to tweeland a bit (tweetland)? I got the blue smocked neck blouse and posted an outfit recently. Our ON might still have some if you're interested and want me to look!

I like the mint blouse on you! Yes, even the color - it is low contrast but I feel like it emphasizes your beautiful creamy skin in a good way.

Not crazy about the bird blouse - I agree with the other ladies that the shape is a bit odd, especially by itself. (I think it's the same blouse that I tried on today, and the shape did not work for me at all either.)

I really like the softness and romantic feel of the mint blouse. The bird blouse is really cute, although I think I would prefer it with jeans rather than a skirt.

I love the way you have styled that first outfit. It really has a 20s feel while remaining modern. I am not sure I adore that colour on you, but it feels like a breath of spring, and there is something lovely about that. Sometimes I think it's worth giving a new colour a try.

Love the print on the bird blouse but like Claire, I have trouble not projecting my own fussiness or problems with those kinds of ties onto others! It does look like a fun piece in the jeans look.

I like the mint blouse a lot. Nice and flowy but still fitted enough and definitely fits the shoulders. The bird blouse I don't love. Maybe just me. I think the fabric is gorgeous, but the button-up v-neck with the tie just looks odd to me. Just my 2 cents, of course!

I actually like the mint blouse with the olive skirt and pearls. (I do like cap sleeves and this kind of style.) The bird blouse, not so much, the fit seems off or quality doesn't seem up to your standards Amy. It looks better without the belt, though.

ETA went back and read the comments. I would keep the mint blouse and I think the pale color flatters your creamy skin as Shannon (?). I like her suggestion of adding bright lip color.

I'm in the minority, and LOVE both blouses on you, Amy! For what it's worth, I think you look fab in every frame here, but removing the tie really does wonderful things for that shirt and lets the print shine, makes it all look much more breezy.

I like the bird blouse both ways, blazer and jeans. It adds whimsy to a more formal outfit, and is a breeze in a casual combo.

And are you really sure you want to return the mint blouse? I don't get why it would be controversial, but you look so icy cool and crisp and sorbet-yummy in it...Perfectly pretty!

I very much like the mint top for a reason, on you Amy! So ladylike, in a good sense-. Who say we have to dress contrasting colours all the time! absolutely beautifull like you've styled it!

Amy, I'm going to be a complete spanner and I do apologize :(. I don't find the mint top flattering because it's too yellow against your hair and complexion. I vote return. I absolutely believe that you can partake in the pastel trend but with blue based colours like muted lilacs and dusty pinks. That being said, I like the '20s vibe of that outfit - with the soft colours and pearls. It becomes you!

The birds look great! That blouse would look fab with pearls and a lighter bottom.

Another nay for the mint (but I have poison eye for mint I suspect), in the photo not a flattering color. Could be a basic with colorful scarf, but probably not want you want in summer.

I love the bird without the tie. I'd like it with a stripe L/S tee underneath. How's that for pattern mixing? It definitely has whimsy and possibilities.

I'm returning both today. I need to feel confident and excited about my clothes, and I guess these just aren't doing it for me.

I'm a little worried about the notion that I should wear blue-based colors. I used to think I looked good in yellow-based colors and have a yellow-green tuxedo shirt in the works. I hope it's not a travesty on me!
