Angie featured these Blondo boots in one of her recent roundups. They were on a pretty good sale at Nordstrom (at least 60% off) so I pounced on the burgundy version. My main question was whether they would be the *right* burgundy.
1. Here they are next to the black patent stompy Sorels I bought last year. The Sorels have been absolute workhorses, and I actually *want* to split my wears a bit here. So "they look pretty similar" is not a dealbreaker!
The Blondos fit true to size, are comfortable out of the box (at least with brief wear), and actually look a bit stompier than the Sorels (the toe box is more rounded and larger).
2. Do they look like they "belong" in my burgundy capsule? (I know they don't match exactly.)
3. Do they mesh well enough with other colors I'm likely to wear them with, especially medium blues and plums?
4. How do they look with my outerwear options?
5. And my everyday purse?
6. Can I wear them with straight-leg jeans? (I've been wearing this silhouette a lot and also have a similar pair in gray.)
7. Maybe an opportunity for a peek of a fun patterned sock?
8. Can I wear them with skinnies?
9. Spoiler: I think the answer to #8 is No. The shaft is lower than that of the Sorels, so they don't work as well worn over skinnies. (I don't like to wear ankle boots with rolled-up skinnies, which is why I'm not showing that styling option.) However, I could wear them with leggings, skirt leggings, skirts/tights, and straight leg pants.
What's the verdict, keep or return?
