K/R: Blazer Too Small? - YouLookFab Forum

This is a PXXS so a size down from what I would normally buy. Super discount (60% off) so a size up is unavailable.

Black is so-o-o hard to photograph. (Suggestions? I tried to lighten.) This doesn’t fit as fluidly as the stock photos available if you click on the Find. I can button the bottom but I don’t think it looks great if I am wearing a full skirt; unbuttoned looks better. Nothing is tight.

I’m worried that this looks overly tailored when it’s supposed to look slouchy and oversized which I must admit isn’t really my thing. But the shoulders have shoulder-pads so I’m not sure how that gets to slouchy. Nonetheless, I was planning to wear it casually with jeans.

Too small so therefore return?

Difficult to say - it looks like a traditional fit ( open is probably the best ). The Halogen brand usually fits big in jackets - I've got swallowed by the XS size ( my usual size ).

It doesn’t look like the stock photos, I agree. I think it looks good on you but not as cool and edgy as lots of what we see you in.
I don’t want to actually vote though because I am not sure.

I get why you like it, and it looks good to me. I’m figuring any bunching I’m seeing is due to raised arms for taking pics, ‘cause it looks like the shoulder fit is good. But it’s got to pass the comfort and movement test…

Are the sleeves long enough? It’s always hard to tell in a selfie bc you have to hold your arm up. If they are then I think it’s a good fit. Not overly fluid, but still longer than a traditional blazer

I think this style should fall straight from the exaggerated shoulder and not be fitted on the body. Buttoned, this one is too small on your lower half for this particular look. If you want a long, tailored blazer I would choose a style meant to have that silhouette. If you want the oversized look I think this one is too small.

As for shoulder pad to slouchy, maybe it's about how the fabric drapes? My oversize blazer is in a relatively soft, drapey fabric (for a blazer). Just speculating though.

If you are going for slouchy then I don't think this is the one. It looks like a longer fitted blazer. How is it when open? Might be more the look you are going for then.

The fit works as a trendy look.

But the seams on the shoulders look a bit dodgy. I vote pass.

Many thanks for everyone's wisdom on this. A special shout out to Angie and Kathie: The caps of the sleeves are indeed weird where they are attached and puff out especially in the back. I might have missed this without you but it was very obvious in the light of day (vs. my dim hallway light!) Once seen, I cannot unsee it.

Alas, I really like the weight of this blazer, and it's the first one that's looked fine at the chest when unbuttoned and the first double-breasted one I've liked on me. But really, it's not a need and hardly a want.

Back to Nordstrom it goes, and now we know why it was 60% off.
