I went to Danier Leather on my lunch hour today since I had a bit of extra time to try on the four leather jackets I had linked to in my previous post (http://youlookfab.com/welookfa.....her-jacket).

It was a very interesting experience…#3, the one that was the most popular with YLF was an absolute disaster on my body type. Where the waist nips in on the jacket hit my hips because of my short upper body so the entire fit was off and the bottom portion of the jacket flared off my hips like a peplum gone haywire! I literally laughed out loud when I looked at myself.

The rate-ish one in #4 was just plain hideous on me – colour was wrong and it looked awful undone because of the asymmetrical zipper.

The red blazer (#2) which I tried on in black was just plain boring.

But #1 (which didn’t get a lot of love as I recall) was fab – really good fit thanks to the beautiful ruching on the sides, looked good both done up and undone, and was short enough on me for everything to be in the right place and for it not to be overwhelming. I think it fits my rubric as well (structure – definitely; classic – what’s more classic than a black leather jacket?; retro/vintage – I think the neckline and the little frill at the pockets give it a retro look; urban – ok, not so much). I wondered about the neckline playing nicely with a collared shirt so the SA took off the jacket she was wearing with her white button down shirt and popped on mine and then popped her shirt collar which was now perfect with the jacket. I think it will look great over a sheath dress and any of my Docs, t-shirt and jeans, etc. but would appreciate your feedback as always. Obviously the sleeves need shortening but you'll have to ignore that for the purpose of these pictures. If I keep the jacket, Danier will shorten the sleeves for me.

These are not great pics as Kristin snapped them when we had 5 minutes without anybody in the office and obviously the jacket isn't styled. And I don't know WHAT I'm doing with my face in pic #2!
