K/R Black jackets from AYR - Update with additional sizes and grey coup

I've had this brand on my radar for awhile but never tried anything before. I ordered two jackets, the long one is a Johnny Cash blazer type and the other is heavy and more outerwear ish with an interesting shine finish. I didn't really style but put over what I had on today, then one with a little dressier wool pants and then over two totally random light blue items so that the black would show up better.

For closet niche I was thinking low key but slightly dressy occasions.

Shall I keep or return them?

Thoughts on fit? I sized up on both based on the website's recommendation.

Last four pics are new. Angie's pointing out the grey version led me to try it also. They only had a 4. The first one is a 6. Any thoughts on color or size? I find the overall fit better except in the shoulders (perennial IT issue) ... not too tight, but less room

Also I added photos of the Glass in small. I definitely prefer this one.

Hard to judge the fit visually because the lighting is on the dim side, but from the website photos, I adore the cut of that "Coup" jacket and am finding the "Glass" jacket extremely intriguing because I can imagine what it looks and feels like.

What's your call on the fit? It seems like the Coup should be rather fitted and the Glass should feel roomier. Is that how they feel to you?

Ooh, I have been looking for a longer black blazer and this one is gorgeous. Hard to see details though. How is the sizing? I like both but prefer the Coup to the Glass. (okay, now thinking of puns like Coup de Glass...).

I usually wear a 4 and got a 6 in the Coup. I think the fit is good. It does not close in front -- but it is clearly not meant to (it does not e.g. have hooks).

I usually wear a small but took a medium in the Glass. I can wear a sweater and zip it up and have at least an inch of room left ... I am wondering if I should have stayed smaller.

It's so hard to get black clothing to show up properly in photos!!

These are both gorgeous jackets, UmmLila! I love the long blazer just the way it is on you, it looks beautiful. I would try the shiny jacket in a size smaller to compare, it might be a little big.

I love the blazer on you! The shiny jacket is interesting but how would you style it? It seems rather rock n roll. Granted I have no knowledge of Johnny Cash...

The shiny jacket would be easy for me to style ... I love to have different textures in a look so I would likely throw on over almost anything. The challenge would be to not default into all darks

Keep the blazer so unique in the design.

I really like them both, but the Glass seems more casual, and the blazer more dressy. The blazer reminds me a little of my BCBG long jacket. I think it depends on whether you want a more or less casual vibe. They seem to fit different needs to me.

I think the shine and the high collar add a little dressiness that would otherwise not be there. And you're right ... it's totally like your BCBG jacket, which I have long coveted.

They both look really nice on you, but to my eye the Glass has a bit of a sporty outdoorsy vibe despite the shine, and the Coup, as a blazer, is more dressy. I think the Glass would be harder to style with skirts and dresses but might work with more collars and necklines than the Coup.

Do you have room or a need for both? Or did you intend that only one of them is to fit the "low key but slightly dressy" niche? If the latter, I would test each jacket with various items in your wardrobe and most likely a winner will emerge.

If you have to choose, I like the Coup better but both are great. Keep the one that you will reach for most.

I really love the Coup and you can always look to Janet's outfits for inspiration on that one. The Glass seems like a totally different type of jacket and I like it as well -- but I guess the question is, do you want two new black jackets, even if they fulfill very different purposes. It's harder to judge the fit on that one, also. Black is such a pain to photograph.

I love the long Coup blazer, although I wonder if it is a bit big? Hard to tell. I think that one is up and coming in terms of the trends. The other one is more classic I think.

I also like both, with the Coup being #1. I think they will both fill different purposes, so I'd be inclined to keep both if you can. Fit is so hard to judge in photos of black clothing, but it looks good from here.

The blazer is stunning and I imagine would be a real workhorse from casual to dressy wear. I would definitely keep it. The other is a nice casual jacket, but may not have the versatility.

I like them both. I live a casual life so I could definitely see wearing the more casual one. But the other one is very sharp looking, very nice for someone who dresses up.

It was hard to see because of the black. I learned to overexpose my pictures, from Chris, so people could see details. Here's one of your pictures, before and after.

It is a lot of black, especially since I haven't yet admitted to my black patent trench. Too bad the jackets don't come in burgundy or navy, too.

I am a big fan of AYR, I have several pieces in my wardrobe but my long blazer is my favorite. Keep the blazer.

I love the Cop, it looks fantastic on you! Can you size down on the Glass? It seems like your three black items all have different finishes/textures, so it's not really like getting 3 black jackets...

Oh, it comes in gray but sold out sizes on Nord site. I'm intrigued. Gray is not " formal" but is a color I can wear....!

I prefer the smaller size in both. I try to remember to try at least two sizes of anything and everything that interests me, because sometimes my normal size doesn't look as good as the size I thought I could never wear. The gray has a much different vibe than the black, doesn't it? All are fab, so I guess it depends upon what you need or want.

Onto the jacket -- I like the grey as well but I'm zero help because they both look fantastic to me! Really depends on which would work best in your closet.
