K/R: BF Jeans and Fuchsia T - YouLookFab Forum

Suz's K/R post of her new BF jeans has got me craving some (more!) BF jeans with a slouchier fit than my Calvin Kleins (pic 6)... Alas I am on a hard and fast SYC until my birthday in August. (3 weeks down 4 months to go. phew!) But then DH side of the closet is my closet too right?

K/R (to DH)/Alter: 1-3 are DH 4 year old fav jeans that recent wore a small hole in the knee. DH does NOT wear clothes with holes so I now am considering them fair game. Do they work... As is? Or perhaps taper the lower leg a bit? Or give up the whole idea? The zipper is LONG but I kind of like it...

K/R: 4-5 This T I bought right before I did our budget (Thanks for your helpful blog posts Laura!) and discovered some SYC was in order. This is probably my only really bodycon top and when I have so much volume going on on the bottom I feel like a slimmer top makes me feel more fab. I LOVE the zippers. I paid $20 for what is basically a T shirt in my book. It 's Micheal by Micheal Kors. The size up looked silly b/c with the side runching I believe the fit is meant to be pretty slim thru waist. I really want to keep it but this is probably more than I have ever paid for a T. Maybe calling it a "knit top" would help the mental wrangling?

Fuchsia!! Boyfriend! How could I not love it!!

And just look at that riveting rear view. You look great in the flap pockets.

Keep the T and call it a top; it looks great.

I think those BF have potential but I am not sure I would want a rip quite that large at the knee...and I do think tapering would be a good idea if you can do it.

Additional clarification: Yes, the huge rip at the knee is #6 is the reason I have been avoiding them lately. The rip in the ones in 1-3 is just about the size of a quarter... Much more do-able in my book and the jeans in 1-3 are quite a bit larger being DH's not mine originally.

Ah, got it! Okay, that makes sense. Well, I say, if you can taper those jeans they could be total winners for you!

The knee fading on DH's jeans are WAY below your knees which make them look off to my eye and no amount of alteration can fix it. My vote is to make them into BF shorts for you or regular shorts for him.

Sarah, are you going to make your Calvin Klein's into boyfriend shorts? I was going to agree with Suz about tapering the legs but that was before Donna's comment about the fading. I suppose you could still taper them and if the fading bothers you then cut off into jeans, since your husband won't wear them. Nice fuchsia "knit top"!

I still think if you taper them, that fading line will be less noticeable. Since he is going to toss them, it's worth a try, and if that doesn't work you can always make them into shorts or clams.

Love the top. Very flattering in colour and style. I just bought a dress with zippers like that (last month of course).
I think the jeans are a wee bit too big, even for BF's but I am not an expert on BF's. I defer to Suz!

Ah, yes Donna I do see that problematic fading. I tried a bit of a peg roll and simulate a bit of tapering and as Suz imagined it reduces the visibility of it, most esp. if the lighter color goes basically into the roll at the hem. So perhaps wear at full length isnt feasible.

Pil, I am not sure about the CKs into shorts. Quite possibly... although I am torn and might get rid of them. The person who gave them to me and I have had a rather ugly falling out so I am tempted to purge them and the khaki trench from the same giver just to not have that vibe hanging about the house. I hate to get rid of useable items though so.... I just cant decide.

Yippee for the T love. Going to cut the tags on my "knit top"!

The rise on the mens jeans is very long and that bothers me. But if these jeans are up for some experimentation, you could try altering them yourself by tapering and then shortening them. If that doesn't work, they could be shorts but then again the long mens rise throws me off. And yes the fading with the knee way down. Overall, it takes a lot of styling to make these look intentional, I much prefer your existing bf jeans even with the big rip, it makes them quite edgy.

Love your new top, it shows off your slim torso to wonderful advantage. I could see it with navy trousers or any white bottom, I like it with the shorts.

I think DH's jeans are not the best for you. The cut to me is just too baggy and the rise looks wrong:(. I think your existing jeans look great:)

Love the new top! I would have fun with your husband's jeans -- try shortening and tapering and see how it ends up!

The top is perfect - both the cut and and the color are gorgeous on you.

The jeans do have potential - I would play around with them a bit and see if tapering/hemming makes them look more to your liking.
