Ha, ha, ha. Over the years I've noticed that YLFers tend to be enablers. But thank you Jaime, Sharan, Kyle, Cookie, Janet, slim cat, Jennie NZ, RachelNZ, Staysfit, Jules, Olive Green, Indigoprint, RobinF, unfrumped, RunCarla, MsMaven, and of course, Angie. I do really appreciate the words of wisdom and caution! Since DH didn't object to these jeans I will most likely keep them. But before I cut the tags, I will do the Sit Test again and actually look down and check for gaping. Thanks for the reminder, Staysfit!
@MsMaven. Lol. I actually need to decide whether I like the barrel jean look enough on me to keep them. Because of their thick cuff and 100% cotton stiffness, the utter silliness appeals to me believe it or not.
@Unfrumped, you made some really good points about wearability. Actually, it's the white shirt and tweedy jacket in the pics that I'm worried about more. Tags are still on them. It would be difficult to layer over the shirt due to boxiness and difficult to layer under the jacket due to somewhat narrow sleeves. The weight of the cuffs on the jeans keeps cold air from going up the legs which I find to be a big problem in other wide leg jeans since I run so cold.
@Olive Green and @RobinF: My legs are so short that I generally need to have Petite sized pants and jeans hemmed. These have a 24" inseam; I measured. The waist is super high and on the small side which works well for my proportions.
@Jaime: No way could I size down in these! They didn't have the next size up in stock so I have no idea how they would fit. 100% cotton so I need to remember not to pop them in the dryer.
Since I recently had my 72nd birthday, I am starting to consider whether I am veering into "mutton dressed as lamb" territory. I don't mind crazy or a bit silly, but I just don't want to horrify anybody!
