K/R: Banana Republic shorts x3

I bought these shorts at Banana Republic...what do you think of them? Keep or return? I just realized that I may not get much of a chance to wear them much longer this summer before I have to put them away till next year. Are they worth keeping?
1-3. Trina Turk printed shorts. Too short or is this OK for MOTG?
4-6. Trina Turk--same shorts in white.
7-9. Denim bermuda shorts. Smooth dark wash, rugged fabric. Nicer than Old Navy but cheaper than J Brand. But does the back pocket flap/pocket buttons bother you?

Which length of shorts looks better on me--short shorts like 1 & 4 or bermudas/clams like 7?

Love the printed shorts and totally works for MOTG! Maybe just with a woven button down shirt? Sleeves scrunched? Flats? You could try a waist-tie also. Would look very sophisticated and you absolutely have the legs for that length of shorts.

I prefer the printed shorts over the white ones but they do look to fit well so you might want to keep them. White shorts are a basic, to be worn year after year.

I like both length shorts on you, they just have a different vibe. I don't mind the back pockets, although they aren't as convenient for storage as regular pockets.

I like all of these, especially the white and the denim. As MOTG, I would have chosen #1 and #3, though. My experience is that white never stays white with the kids around, but I get stains even by being alone and doing nothing at all.

I like the back pockets, gives an extra casual vibe.

As for buying now and saving it until next season... how do you feel about leaving an item unworn for such a long time? Would you feel confident when time comes because you know you have the right shorts, or would you rather go and get a some new ones before the season starts? I guess there will be great stuff next year too. For me, if I really really like an item, I am willing to buy off season and look forward to wearing it when it's time. But I've almost made it a rule to shop at sales times (which means off season) and seldom buy full price items. I have a seasonal wish list that makes me prepared for off season sales.

I love the printed ones best, like Denise --- but have to wonder if you might find them less exciting by next summer (say if everyone's wearing plaids instead, because that's what's on trend, would this sharp departure from the norm bother you?)... or would you revel in the last hurrah of the printed pants (and I'm recalling the trouble you had with the longer versions earlier too)

The whites and longer denims are easy keeps, I think --- they'll still be handy to have next year.

What does the hubs think about the printed shorts? I really like the denim clams for you for MOTG and I think they'd be the most practical, length and fabrication. My kids are teenagers and I'm only *just* getting back to wearing white bottoms, lol! You could definitely roll around on the floor in the denim clams and you could wear them straight into fall.

The denim bermudas look great Natalie and are totally practical for MOTG. As well, denim bermudas will never go out of style so will work next year as well. The white are also good in terms of working from one year to another and if you can keep white clean, I'd go for those as well.

I love the look of the Trina Turk shorts and they are not too short (you have fab legs - show them off). Those are the ones that could be iffy in terms of style next summer.

I used to have denim bermudas with back flaps like that and I'm not wearing them at all this summer because of said flaps. They ruin the line of any knit tops that I might wear and don't always lay flat. They're fine with woven tops. Just something to keep in mind.

Have you tried the Kut from the Kloth denim bermudas at Nordstrom? They used to have a flap pocket (in fact, those are the ones I have), but I noticed this year they have a slit pocket in the back instead, more like a trouser. (Looks like they're on sale and sizes are limited, though ... they run large, fyi)

I like the white and denim. Your summer season is so short and weekends are so few... how many pairs of summer shorts do you really need? aren't you keeping the Jbrands? They were great on you. I do not like the patterned ones. I know they are trina turk but the combination of the fabric, print and length make them look like summertime pajamas. Perhaps it is the scale of the print. There is just not enough fabric to show the print.

I vote return them all. The fits aren't fab and you don't have a dire need for short shorts in your SF climate. Natalie - at least, not from what I know about SF, so feel free to disagree

I much preferred the two pairs of denim tapered bermudas you sported a few days ago. They were perfect!

OK, I listened to Angie and returned them all. Gah, I really loved that summery TT print! But I am not going to get much use out of them as she said, since it gets rather cold here. I did return the two expensive J brand bermuda shorts because of the whiskering looking like faux cameltoe (I just couldn't get Rae's comment out of my mind!). I will look again for some denim shorts next summer though!
