K/R ASAP! Red boots, red bag - YouLookFab Forum

I think I'll cut the tags and leave the house in these boots today unless y'all give me a thumbs down. I've been wanting a pair of burgundy/dark red boots and pulled the trigger on these Fryes after just not finding much in that color these days. These are a tad more casual than I was thinking, but my life is quite casual, so I don't think it's a problem. I think they'll work with skirts and dresses as well.

The bag is my consolation for the Valentino red bag I love. I don't think I can justify two grand on a bag right now, but this Hobo is nice quality, the right size (I can fit my iPad in it!), and very clean and simple. It's hard to find a red bag that doesn't have gold hardware! It's not terribly edgy, but I like the simplicity and it will be a nice counterpart to my edgier jackets.

Opinions please!

I'm not in love with the bag. It's not the right scale for you - it would be my size. I think you need something just a touch bigger. Like an inch wider with a longer strap drop.

The boots are amazing!! Has DH seen them? They are like the sassiest most scrumptious cowboy boots in the land. You have killer style. I hope you are wearing them out of the house today. You will stop traffic in these.

Rita, that's a very thought-provoking observation on the bag. I dont often include my bag in my outfit photos, so looking at the proportion of this is interesting. I see what you're saying. Hmm. I think they have a larger bag similar to this one, so maybe that's an option to consider.

It looks like the boots have found their home with me!

I see what Rita means about the scale of the red bag, though. I guess it depends on how much you need/want a red bag right now. It's not a total deal-breaker IMO, but I do think something better would come down the pipeline eventually. You just might have to wait a while.

Have to back Rita on the bag. It's nice, but not super. If you love it, keep it, but if not I say keep looking.

Edit: I love the outfit. That jacket is way cool, and I love it over the denim shirt!

Hobo does make a lot of sans hardware red bags - usually every season. They are so dependable for good shapes and minimal look.
Boots are definitely good for jeans or skirts.

KEEP THE BOOTS! I am also good with the red bag but see it as a nice, functional workhorse bag rather than a statement bag.

Keep the bag if you need something utilitarian but still colorful. I agree with comment that it's scaled for a shorter person (send it my way...I've been looking for something similar!)

I am indifferent on the bag but I LOVE the boots! Fryes do not come in my size <sob> so please wear them for me.

Sad you are returning the bag. I happen to like it.
I hear you about the scale, I own mostly big bags for that reason but sometimes I just can't travel with a big ole bag. I think the fact that it is a bright color ( more visible) compensates for the scale issue.

The jacket is actually a knit (swackett?) -- from Anthro a couple of years ago. I think the label is Charlie & Robin? I wore it in a WIW a couple of months ago with a buttoned up shirt and a bib necklace.

I love the boots on you. I'm so glad Rita was brave and said something about the bag. I think it's small, and the style could be read as a bit "mumsy". A cross-body that size might be a good alternative. Now I'm curious to see your other bags!

Claire, actually this bag has a detachable cross-body strap! It would probably look more modern if I wore it that way.

That's a great feature. I think even if you had the strap hanging there (a la Rae) and used the handles it would instantly look more current. Hmmmm. I might have to change my mind on that bag!
