Thanks so much to everyone who's been giving me advice on work clothes. "Business casual" is such an odd category!

I bought a bunch of stuff online, and it's starting to show up! Hooray!

I can't decide about these pants (photos 1-4) OR this lovely orange sweater (1, 4).

The pants are arguably a size too big, but it looks to me like it might work for the more unstructured fit that seems to be coming back? Don't go easy on me.

As for the sweater, I love the color and the comfort. Just not sure if it works on my body, or what to wear it with!

Ooh, Anthro! Their clothes are always so fun.

It's kind of difficult to tell in the pictures, but the fit of the pants looks OK, except maybe they are a tad long. Is there a way you can take a picture that is more straight-on? The current angle seems to be distorting things quite a bit.

As for the orange sweater, I think you would probably want to wear it with something form-fitting on the bottom since the sweater itself is voluminous. It's hard to see how long the front of the sweater is because of the camera angle...if the sweater is on the short side, a pencil skirt would work, but if it's on the long side, then pants would work better. The outfit you've made here looks good to me :^).

I like all of these on you. The pants don't look too big to me. You don't want them to be too tight for work. That top fits you great. Love the sweater too. It looks more rust than orange on my screen. If that's accurate, I love rust with light gray and winter white.

I think the shirt, the pants, and the sweater all look great! The shirt and pants together, in particular, really show off your enviable figure. I might consider wearing a camisole under the shirt for the office, though. And the color of the sweater looks wonderful on you.

DP is about 14 inches taller than me, so his photo angle is sometimes a bit odd.

@Gigi: The pants are "ankle" pants but they were all out of petite, so they are actually a smidge on the long side but I don't mind where they hit. The sweater's a few inches below my natural waist in front, below the butt in back - so pants only, perhaps? I'll have to put it on with a skirt to see, I think. It might actually be SO long that it would work okay with a short skirt!

@carter: Yep, a warm rusty orangey color! One of my happy colors.

@Aubergine: The shirt definitely wants a camisole (or a scarf or a different bra), but I appreciate the kind words.

ETA: for the pants to hit me like the model, they'd definitely need to be a size smaller - and petite. http://www.anthropologie.com/a.....074291.jsp

I like the fit of the pants, including the longer length with a touch of scrunch. I like the sweater on you, too, both the colour and fit.

i like both of these outfits, although i agree that the top in #2/3 needs a cami or different bra (or both). the sweater is great, and i like it with the black, but i love orange with navy/ink or grey. i like the fit of the pants.

I wear sweaters like this (these proportions) with a longer tunic top underneath, peeking out in the front. Could be a collared shirt as in Angie's boxy shirt and sweater post (depends on how collar lays with cowl neck of course). Or a silk or jersey tunic, like the Vince long tops. As others have suggested, rust /orange is good with navy, ink, denim. I like grey with black and rust. Slim pants as you have here, boyfriend jeans or slim and booties (balance the weight of the cowl neck). Try with pencil skirt too. You've got the bones of a great outfit and both items seem to fit well in the pics and look good on your frame and coloring.

The pants are a charcoal that photographs black, so the colors are pretty good. I also love brown as a basic for my coloring but I can't actually find it these days.

I think I will end up wearing the sweater out today with a skirt just to see about proportion and shape!

Have I mentioned yet on this thread how wonderful you all are?

Really like all of it on you. The sweater looks super comfy!

...and I can really relate to your comment about the height difference between you and DH causing some body distortion in the photos. I actually had to ask my boyfriend to stand way back to take pictures and then use the zoom because of the same issue.

I'm 4 ft 11.5 inches and he's 6 ft 6 inches... and yes, we look really ridiculous standing next to each other

@leopardluxe: We're not actually married - I'm trying to get DP (for partner) to catch on! ... and yep. I'm 5'4" on a good day, and he's 6'5"! One great bonus: I never ever worry about looking small and delicate.

I actually know quite a few couples with a foot or more of height difference - and now I know that you and your excellent fashion sense are in our club!

I love that sweater. It is a keeper, if it will work in your climate. Aren't you in SoCal or have I gotten you confused with someone else? I would personally get a lot of use out of a sweater like that (and yes, wear it to work), but I live in snowy Boston.

Just coming back to say I'm about a foot shorter than my husband! Since I'm also a very dark brunette and he's a very pale blond, we're an extremely, shall we say, distinctive-looking couple.
