K/R Another Pink Coat - YouLookFab Forum

This is partly for k/r and partly just for sharing, and is option #2 in coat options.

This coat is trendy and likely risks looking outdated in a season or two. For instance, the wrist buckles are higher up on the arm, the back storm flap is ruffled, and the general cut is oversized (bad for looking optimally flattering, good for accommodating significant body changes this year and next). I love the colour, fabric, and length. I ordered this coat (half off, free shipping and returns) more to see what Burberry cashmere felt like, and was otherwise resistant to trying on their coats because of the lack of lining. The fabric is pretty substantial, however, much more so than the Acne coat, and I think it would be warm enough for winter with a sweater underneath. Any thoughts on the cut and style welcome. My guess is the forum will lean toward a more traditional cut, but I could be wrong.

I don't think it's going to look dated in a few seasons at all. The lines are modern classic.

Oooooooh....it is a completely different coat from the other one, but I love it on you!!

It's true that it has distinctive touches but because the overall style is so classic, I'm not so sure it will date badly. Plus, when something suits a person this well...

I think it's GORGEOUS and you should definitely keep it. I don't actually think it will date - the overall look is still pretty classic Burberry and I don't think it looks overly trendy. The only thing that I think you might not want in a few years is the high wrist buckles, but if it's built the way they are on most B coats, it would be very easy to remove or move them.

(I actually think the other pink coat will date faster because of the cocoon shape.)

Personally, I like the other one more, but it isn’t for me. This one is pragmatically better for conditions, looks great on you, and it’s what you would’ve thought of when you had the other one on. Much better, altogether!

Oh wow - pink cashmere. How soft is it? I personally would want a trench to be as classic as possible, aside from the gorgeous color. The back doesn't bother me at all The buckles are strange, though. I'd want to remove them or move them to the wrist area.

Brilliant all around. Won't date and will always be beautiful and special. And to me the higher straps on the arms make total sense and makes me wonder why I never thought of that.

Holy cow! This is a fantastic coat and I love how you've styled it here. I don't see this as having potential to date at all. In fact, the slightly ruffled back overlay is a wink at the feminine colour. LOVE THIS on you!

What you see as details that might make the coat 'outdated', are actually interesting details that are going to make you stand out as a stylish person, who isn't wearing the same.exact.coat. as everyone else in the herd, in the years to come.

I'd also like to point out that I think the fashion community, however massive it seems online, is really a smaller, more self-contained world than we all imagine. In five, six, even ten years, if that coat is in decent shape, and you wear it in the old-money section of Atlanta, people are going to run to get the door for you, call you ma'am, and treat you with a better sort of courtesy. I cannot imagine that set saying, "Oh dear. That coat is so December 2017". For that matter, I cannot imagine that being noted in any metropolitan city. Unless you're among a set of fashion bloggers.

Holy crap, that's gorgeous. The sleeve detailing doesn't bother me at all -- I like the slight bell effect, actually. I gotta say, I prefer the waist definition of this coat on you, as opposed to the cocoon style of the other. Looks great with those boots too.

Fun and pretty! I actually don't think this will date quickly. The quirky details are their own thing (not following any trend that I know of) and are well executed. If you feel fab in it, I would keep.

Love this one on you, and the boots are phenomenal with it. The style and fabrication seem much more useful for winter weather, rather than being a fun topper for transitional seasons.

I find this coat to be more of a classic, and I think the blue-r tone of pink is better for you as well. Not that I didn't like the Acne cocoon, mind you, but if this is warmer and has the longevity feature ...

I love this coat on you. It's a wonderful color on you and I actually like it best without the belt. I don't think it will date too quickly at all. It's got a lot of the traditional trench feeling about it. I would keep it. BUT if the ruffles and buckles really bother you, then that should be that.

Love this. I don't think the details date it as much as make it interesting and different. I had to look twice at the back because I was expecting prom dress type ruffles from your description.

Much nicer! I think the other coat and extreme shape would look more dated and hard to work with.

You need to keep this stunning coat. It looks wonderful on you and you already have the perfect boots to wear with it. I don't think it will date because it is unique, not something you will see at Walmart or Khols.

This is gorgeous on you! The design is beautiful and classic. Exactly what I would expect from Burberry. This looks like something that would last a long time and not a trend. To me trench coats are always in style. I hardly noticed the ruffles and as Lisa P said they are a nod to the colour. Just lovely.

I agree with Diana and think that this coat will date less quickly than the cocoon one. I think this has very classic lines and will look stylish for a long time to come. I think it looks fantastic on you.
