K/R another leather jacket - YouLookFab Forum

(It's Banana Republic's Black Leather Buckle Moto Jacket. Out of stock, so I can't find a link to it on their site.)

Hi! This is another emotional purchase, but it's something I can use, and the other jacket purchase has already transformed my wardrobe functionality so much, and added so much happiness, that I'm willing to fork over the steep amount I'd be paying for this. It really has to be a 10 though. It would be my last leather jacket for a while, most likely.

Sorry I haven't styled it more imaginatively but I just want people to weigh in on whether it looks nice on me (or rather, "killer" and whether you think it looks not like "me."

Also the fit...but to me it feels like it fits very well. Zipped up, it's less snug than the green jacket, and this leather breathes a lot more.

I couldn't get a good pic of the back, but it feels like it fits well.

The pic with my hand is indicating where my natural waist is. Clearly on me it's not cropped, which I don't mind. But if the cut isn't flattering, let me know!

It's a light- to mid-weight jacket for me. I don't need sweaters underneath. These days I'm running warm.

But again, is it that awesome? Or will another equal or better jacket come along for less? I do really like it. I'm also wanting to know if Banana Republic quality should be really good here (Angie, are you familiar with this jacket?)

Does the color wash me out or look harsh? (On edit, I had always assumed I'd be prioritizing the purchase of a rich brown-colored jacket, because of my hair and my eyes. I do love black, and have plenty of things that would match with it too.)

Is it too shoulder-y on IT me?

What else? I wish I had better pics.

I think I got a crush on this jacket from the way it's styled in the website pic.

Ok. Here it is zipped. It looks snug but it really feels ok to me, and I don't plan on zipping it up.

I like the fit and the way you've styled it. Beautiful contrast, edgy and feminine.

I've also come on the forum before asking advice for leather jackets because I'm not a good judge, so take keep that in mind.

The shoulders seem to fit well, and I think it's a good length. My only hesitation is that the sleeves look a bit bunched up, but still seem a bit long. Then again, the sleeves are not smooth on the model, and IIRC moto sleeves are supposed to hit around mid hand, so those are probably non-issues. If it makes you feel fab, I vote yes. Looks great!

ETA: Just saw the additional photo--wonderful! A keeper.

This looks great on you. I like it with the lapels open. The shoulder detailing is really cool, and it looks like if fits well in the shoulders.

I think you need to think about whether you'll be splitting wears with the other leather jacket... I would think about whether the best outfits will always be with one or other of these jackets. Because if one jacket always makes the best outfits, then you don't need the other jacket.

I like the fit in the body and shoulders but the wrinkling in the upper arms in pics 2-3 makes me a little concerned. Are the arms a bit too snug or too long? Are they always that wrinkly? I'm used to SOME wrinkles in leather jackets-we move, our arms have curves and angles-but want to make sure it's not poor or uncomfortable fit.
The leather certainly looks beautiful and I hope it proves to be a keeper.

Yeah, Rachy. About those shoulders ...

They look Michael Jackson Thriller-era on me. Maybe that's fine, but I took note of it. These shoulders are very structured (unlike my actual shoulders, which slope). Of course they must have altered the shoulders of the jacket shown on the model.

I like the cut on you! And, personally, I don't think the shoulders are really an issue, they aren't huge or overly noticeable and if you mostly intend to wear it open, your eye is drawn along the jacket anyway rather than out.

The sleeves do bunch up a little bit but, that's more of a personal preference than really a fit thing usually. I like it in this jacket, although some can look awkward sometimes.

Also, as you can see in the pic you liked, a shorter or rucked-in top is another idea if you want to have a little bit of a layered look when you wear it, but the longer blouse works just as well!

I'm not sure - you said it must be a 10 so I'm going to be the naysayer and say maybe it's not the right one.

I'm pretty convinced you're right, texstyle. It's a lot of money for me and would have to be totally killer. I think I should probably pass for now. But nice to know there must be a cropped moto jacket out there for me. I'd assumed it was a style that wouldn't work for me.

I'm a little late to this, but something is giving me pause -- maybe it's the fit through the arms. I like it, but I am not sure it's a 10 to my eye.

I think this kind of fit is tough - a couple of my leather jackets have gotten tighter due to *cough* swelling and I don't reach for them anymore. So I'll cast my vote with texstyle and Janet. I like the fit of your other one much better.

My eye was drawn to the wrinkled sleeves, looks off to me. I think you can hold off and find a better one. When it's a ten, you know it in your gut!

I can see what you like about this jacket but...the first thing my eyes went to was the wrinkles in the sleeves. Are the sleeves the exact length that you prefer to wear? Or are they too long? I can't imagine what alterations would cost...
