K/R: Angie pick Kenneth Cole Coat & Zara Moto

I want to buy only one winter coat, besides a puffer maybe. I need it to be perfect. I'm not sure if this one is. I haven't styled it. I just want to know if it fits open, buttoned, & then open & buttoned with all the layers I could be wearing. The first pics are with a camp, shell & shirt. The later ones are with a cashmere & wool felt blazer over those items. Then the last ones with a skirt. I would wear that many layers in NY in the fall. I feel the cold. I would probably still be cold in that combo in the NY winter hence the need for a puffer.

The Zara moto does fit me. I think. It doesn't feel too small it just creases that way. It did the same thing on Suz I think. Should I look for another one? A better one? I like the crop of this one.

I'm not seeing the moto pics, just the coat. I like it and the color is great. It seems to fit well with all variations of layers. The only thing that would bug me, assuming you're in a cold climate, is the only one button and how it'll gape open in the wind and not be that warm.

ETA, you added the other pics - I like the moto, it seems to fit well and suit you.

I love the color of the coat on you! It looks fantastic in the first few pics and seems to fit you flawlessly. In the next few pics when you have on all your layers, I'm not sure the effect is as nice. Is the button straining a bit? Would you consider trying the next size up?

The moto looks great on you. Really great. I love it. A definite keep.

Love the coat without layers underneath. If you plan to wear more layers, I would size up, as it looks too snug in the back.

Leather jacket looks amazing on you! You must keep that.

Agree with the others, the first few pics of the coat are perfect, but look snug when you're layered up. I think the moto looks great!!

I will have to find a different coat as it feels almost too big without the layers. It is slightly too big on the shoulders I think & the armholes are big too, but I think they need to be for layering. I don't mind it feeling slightly big if it was just right with the layers but it's too to tight with & not tight enough without. I do want to feel fab in my coat though & I'm not sure this is it.

I love the coat on you, but if you don't feel 100% then it is probably not "the one." The shape of this one makes it more difficult than with some coats to layer, but the single button makes it more necessary to layer.

LOVE the moto on you! It looks 100% better on you than on me and I hope you keep!

As a side note, isn't it hilarious how the speller on this thing always writes "camp" for "cami"?? I can't tell you how many times I've just written out camisole in frustration!

with the coat i have a spirt one is in grey i love it from the from but from the back is not that flattering and my hub tell me is not flattering at all (very true) and i feel the same over here but the moto jacket i feel is a keeper n______n

Thanks Suz. I don't know what to think about the coat. I did load up on the layers to be sure. I'm in LA so not super familiar with coats & how to dress in the cold. I probably should keep looking. I'm not planning to go anywhere cold just yet so I have time. I can hold onto this just in case. Nordstrom has no time limit on returns. I thought the moto looked the same on you as it did me with the creasing so if you think it's great on me then it's great on you.

I love shearling coats for cold weather but they are casual, which is fine for some of my looks but not really how I dress in NY, which is where I get really cold, & they take up too much room in a suitcase, & I don't know how I feel about the animal skin thing, even though I wear leather. I don't like the faux ones. They look cheap...sigh

The auto spelling issue is worse on my iPhone. That one is so frustrating.

The coat looks killer when you don't layer underneath it. If this coat is for LA - it's perfect!

Angie I may keep it for LA as it is not expensive but then I never really need one in LA. I just wear a short jacket usually. And there is the closet space issue. I will have to see. There is no rush to return it. Is your red one warm? Is it good for layering? I know they don't have any red ones left but I could try camel or black. Camel has to be very warm and camelish rather than taupish to look good on me & black will pick up all my kitties hair all the time. I wish I could get the red one.

Hmm. I'm not seeing the tightness in the back, when layered over clothes. But layered or un-layered, there is something off about the button placement. I am wondering.. do you simply need to move the button closer to the edge? If there's room, maybe that is all you need here.

As for warmth with coats like this, I highly recommend the J Crew coats that come with option for thermo-lining. It makes a big difference. I can wear mine through winter, most days, here in Boston. I reserve the puffer mostly for the wet/snowy/below zero days.
