K/R and fit on slouchy silky track pants?

I'm not really used to the fluid fit, slouchy drapey bottom silhouette
but have been thinking about finding a pair of ankle length black pants. I tried on three, including one from Vince with a leather side strap,
and one slouchy ankle pant from Eileen Fisher, but the Vince one was too tight and the EF one just looked like baggy leggings. The Topshop one looked the best. It has a wrap detail on the front. But I don't know if this looks good on me or whether I look like I have diaper butt syndrome? Also I'm wondering if this is the right fit or I need to size down. I ordered an 8 which they said was US 6-8 (since I'm normally a size 6 in most bottoms & dresses), but when I got it the tag said US 8. So I could order the 6 which they said was US 2-4. Sorry for the bad pics, I would normally not stand like that but it's really hard to show detail on black pants. What do you think? Keep, size down or keep looking?

I am inclined to say try the size down. They are cute but it looks to me like there is too much material for you.

I like the idea, and love silky track pants, but can't really see them that well since they are black. I like the length, but can't really comment about the fit at the top. I will defer to the experts...

If you like them, I agree with viva to try a size down. I like this style pant, though the way the waistband lies across the front seems off and the volume a bit high. The reviews are good, so maybe they are just too big.

I wasn't expecting to like this style on you, Natalie - but I do. I like these on you and am guessing the size down won't work. In the pictures where you're turned to the side, and out of the top-down glare of the lights, the fit looks really good to me.

I think tho a more fitted tee with shorter sleeves... or a shorter tee with shorter more fitted sleeves may be what I'm trying to say...

I'm not loving these for you. Personally, I've found that while I like the idea of these fluid pant styles, they usually don't like me back.

I like them! I do think you need to size down. I can see the waistband sagging...

I don't know which is which, but I don't like the shiny looking satiny fabric. I have EF harem pants. They are fun but despite the price tag, I know they aren't going to last past the summer. So if these are just pricey oversized baggy leggings, I would probably hold out for a pair that will hold up better.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I feel like I'm wading into unknown territory (for me) with these type of pants. I do agree that this size looks too big, even for oversized pants. And good point about the satiny material looking cheap. I don't know if I can really pull off true harem pants, though. The teasing from DH would be merciless!!!

I think I'm going to ditch these and try something else. I do want it to look at least slightly flattering. Next up I'm going to try the Halogen track pants below. I tried the Leith pants back when they were popular, put it on and went "yuck, saggy butt!" and promptly returned it. I wonder how I would react now that my eye has adjusted to the more fluid, oversized silhouette.

The other thing that makes me laugh is that I used to tease my mom for wearing black parachute pants with zippers all over them in the '80's, and now here I am trying to replicate the look that I thought was so tacky back then!

Natalie, last year I had the Leith track pant and then 'upgraded' to an Eileen Fisher pair in silk. They are soft, not shiny, and drape well. They are a fluid fit without being overly baggy. Since they come in petite, the length was much better for me. Maybe you could try this style too?

I ordered those Halogen track pants as well. I was excited to see that they come in petite. Otherwise the track pants end up looking like genie pants on me. Hope they work out for both of us. I am excited to try out another new style of pants!

I agree, I'm not a fan of the shiny fabric either, although in fairness, shiny fabrics photograph really poorly. I'd try something with a more matte material. A while back, the Rack had some by Bobeau -- a nice budget-friendly option since it's a trend you're not fully committed to.
