K/R Almost last of the Dresses

I had this one enroute and a different size in the Vince Camuto before I put the moritorium on dresses and skirts until my wardrobe holes are filled.

Please ignore the hair! DD decided how much fun my hair would be to pull today, so it got hastily tossed up. She keeps grabbing the escaped bits and pulling. HARD!

This is another Donna Rico dress (I ordered the white and black one, and three days later, this one came up on the website). It also sits about and inch or two above my natural waist. I took a side shot so you can see my top fit issues without the sweater.

I love the colors on this. I am worried about the fit. Not sure how tough or expensive it would be to adjust. Also, not sure about getting my busy self to:
A. find a tailor
B. Actually go in for the fitting.

DH wanted me to show you ladies anyway, so here it is! Honest feedback most welcome.

Yeah, I am feeling a little grumpy today with DD being a bit of a monster. So goes a day with a toddler!

Oh, you look amazing in those blues! The waist is supposed to be high and it looks good on you! To me it looks like the straps need to be shortened? That's an easy, cheap alteration.

ps Sorry about the toddler mood issues! Sounds exhausting!

I dunno anything about tailoring, but I remember having a dress that gaped like that and my mom would fix the straps for me by shortening them up a bit. It took her like 5 minutes tops (then again, she works very fast at everything!)

I just wanted to say I think dresses look very, very pretty on you! I really like this dress too, but I liked the the black and white one a little more - the open flowers are very pretty and I think the dress would be a nice neutral. This one would go with a lot of colours too, but I have a teal? seafoam green? what is that colour called? poison eye. :p

ETA: I'm still trying to plot/scheme to get that dress.

Fit is so tricky for me to gauge based on the models! Shoulders are so tough for me, because really, I need shoulder bads. That part of the 80s was a good thing for me!

Another pretty dress for you! I really love how the geometrical pattern seems to get moving with the folds. I think this is a very easy alteration job, but you need to find a tailor. otherwise the dress won't get worn as often as it should.

Toddlers are exhausting and so is being a mom. Take care and try to embrace even the exhausting parts of motherhood - I know all about it (DS x3), but accepting it makes it easier (though not less exhausting, unfortunately) *hugs*

I like the dress but I'm not sold on the neckline for you. The colours are gorgeous on you and clearly it does need an alteration. How are you feeling about it Thistle? I'm inclined to return as I think your recent dress post indicate you have some totally fab dresses already.

It's really pretty and that is an easy alteration at the shoulder.

Oh dear, I am sorry - I ought to know. It feels crummy because you are having a rough mommy day. Toddlers are EXHAUSTING!!!!! It does get better...thank goodness.

I think you can easily just have the shoulder seams sewn a little further down and that would solve the fit issue. Very easy alteration.

I think it's beautiful and fits well otherwise, so I think you should keep it!

Love the dress. I would actually go with a bright green skinny belt instead. The blue actually blends in too much with the pattern and you have such a small waist-- you should highlight that!

The dress is just gorgeous! Only you know whether you'll be motivated enough to have it altered though. Still lots to shop this season so no harm done if you decide to return.

It is a lovely dress, but if you are having doubts about getting it altered, maybe you should return it. Like Angie says, there are lots more coming.

I found a bridal alteration place here in town with excellent on line reviews. I am thinking about dropping her an e-mail, but it sounds like she is swamped with brides.

I will keep looking, but I think it is going back. It is pretty, but I am not in love.
