K/R: 3 dresses

I'd like to get fill a dress capsule for summer. They are the coolest thing for my hot summers....Here are 3 contenders. I can keep all or none.

#1: ATLoft. Sort of a Baily44 knockoff. Obviously I'd wear two sandals!
#2-4 Calvin Klein (from Nord. Rack), another B44 knockoff! I like the color on this but it is too body con for work... but could work around the house. Too much?
#5-7 Max Studio (from Nord. Rack) Larger size--Comfortable but is this too twee?
#8 Same dress, smaller size.

Ignore my shoes; they were what I was wearing.

I can take one or all back. Suggestions, critiques are most welcome!

I like the first two for you. The fit and flare style is so darned hard to wear, even though it is conventionally flattering. I don't think it fits with your style persona as well as the straighter dresses. But maybe I am wrong about that!

I love the first two! The first one in particular took my breath away! It has a great edgy flapper vibe on you, especially with your hair. Love it!

The Max Studio one looks good on you (I prefer the larger size), but I agree with Suz that it doesn't look as much like "you".

I'm glad the first two get some love, as I like them too! Parsely, I really like the first one especially too!

LIke some, I'm hesitating on the third. It's super comfortable, would be great to ride a bike in, but I also wonder if it's my style (whatever that is!)

Wow, a general consensus! Nicole, if I sized down, it might be too short. I ordered it on-line so didn't get a chance to try on a smaller size. Another possibility is that the size down would be too body-con on the backside (like #4) and I'd feel wierd at work.....

I like the first two, also! The first is my favorite, and I actually like it looser -- looks cool and easy.

The first two are my favorites and kudos for trying out the asymmetrical look on your feet. Love the sandal- seriously.

My initial reaction is that the first two are SO you. I love the straight shape and the stripes. I didn't care for the last one because it looked too "sweet" to me, for you. However, the more that I look at it, I find that it is growing on me. It's swingy and the stripes don't read sweet at all--it's just the full skirt which I don't think I've ever seen you in. I think you could keep all three and be pretty set for fun casual summer dresses

ETA: I can't tell the difference between the two sizes of the last one. I'd go with whichever is longer.

Love the first one on you - the second is pretty body con as you said. I don't love the last one and agree it might be too twee.

I personally like dress #2 the most. I really like dress #1 on you (and I have that dress too so I may be a bit biased) but when I looked at the next picture, I thought the blue dress was out of this world! If you think the blue dress is too body-con for work, I would definitely keep both 1 and 2.

I like the first two dresses, I vote keep. Especially the second one, it's not too bodycon for work. It shows your figure in a flattering but not scandalous way.

Not a fan of the third dress, just not a fan of the busy design.

#1 and 2. If you can use the blue one for other occasions, it does look nice.

#3 is just not good enough for you, to my eye. I think there is some other version of not-body con but still more classic or streamlined--like a more classic shift dress or maybe with a straigher skirt in a drapier fabric. Or can you wear a really classic safari-type shirtdress ? You have great shoulders and look as though you would rock the the classic, sporty, almost preppy-type look. I wish I were better at advising ! The fuller skirt in #3 needs to be a tetch longer, to me, to have the right proportions and not stick out, that's what I think looks twee in some dresses.

Dresses are so hard to fit and drive me crazy.

I really like the first two. The third one I like, but I can't figure out if it is because I've been searching for a skirt like the bottom of the third dress, so I can see all the possibilities for what I want, or if it is because it is a good dress. I'm leaning toward the first reason. When I take a hard look at it, I think you and I have similar body shapes. We look brilliant in sheaths (and there is no denying that you look fantastic in the sheaths in pics 1 and 2), but fit and flare dresses don't play to our figure strengths. Okay, worked that one out while writing. I think keep 1 and/or 2 and pass on 3.

Going to swim against the tide and say I quite like 3 for the summer. It reads summer casual - bike riding, drinks, beach, coffee shop. I think it would look terrific with some tan sandals (like the edelman Gigis that Angie posted. I also like 1 - for work and casual.

Yep, another vote for the first two. I agree with Denise that I don't think the second one is too body con for work. I wear my B44 dress to work, although I do wear a jacket over top (mostly because of my own self consciousness, not because it's body con).

I actually like #3 and find it cute and casual for summer wear. I do prefer it in the larger size. Only you can decide if it's your style or not.

Thanks everybody. All the advice has been great! I am veering toward keeping #1 (wear to work and everywhere) and #2 (where at home and parties), and returning both sizes of the third dress.

Still considering the third dress, but I think I'll probably return both sizes. I think the third dress would work better if it was a longer---that would help mitigate the "little girl"-ish aspect.

Well you have already received my reaction - the first two are much more you than the third. I especially like the black stripe one on you, even though had I just looked at the dresses I would have picked the blue.
