K/R: 2 Target items - YouLookFab Forum

This past year, pencil skirts have really appealed to me. I didn't like the way they looked on me years ago, but there are many styles that are slightly tapered and that helps with my lack of hips.

1) I found this tweed-ish navy skirt with gold metallic threads woven into it.

I was wondering how I could make it fit my dressy casual style and found this cute striped dolman hot pink and navy top.

2) 2 quick stylings for the skirt:

a) Citron blouse (forgot to add cami under), scarf to pick up citron color but the darker color is black not navy.

b) Navy button down buttoned to the top, black and white floral pin (weird?), black belt to do a front tuck, and black booties. Funny, I have many navy and black pieces, but I haven't done that color combo.

Keep both items?

I tried on the striped top --- looks adorable on you! I like the skirt, too. If these work in your wardrobe, I say keep.. By the way, I like the last styling -- geek chic with a feminine twist.

I vote keep! I really like the first two outfits. Not as sold on the last one - the skirt looks like it's pulling across the front, which may be due to the belt? But I think you could tweak it to make it work.

CK, yeah, I didn't notice the pulling until I loaded these pics. I'm going to have to try that on again and see if that was a result of sitting down or my mommy tummy.

If the fit is okay (resolve the small pulling issue ) I vote keep for both! I especially like the striped top.

Keep! I like all your stylings and can't pick a favorite. Each has a different vibe, which gives the skirt a new look.

I really like the first two! So both are keepers.

Not so keen on the last looks, maybe this skirt looks better with untucked tops? I think it would also look great with a white button up.

Love the metallic thread in the skirt and while I like all of your stylings am particularly drawn to the one with the citron top.

Oh yes please! I love your styling of the skirt. The top will go with a lot of things. I am on a pencil skirt kick for Spring/Summer as well. Like you, I've found that a slight taper goes a long way to adding shape to the hips and slim legs. That just-at-the-top-of-the-knee length is perfect and very elongating to the leg line as well. Good job!

Oh, thanks for the seal of approval everyone! I was immediately drawn to the pink striped top. I have only one layering tee in hot pink, but maybe I need more in this color? Goes great with Cobalt, right? : P

I think the Navy looks great on you!! I purchased the same skirt with Gold threads and the verdict is still out.

Dstalksalot, is there anything in particular that is making you hesitate on the skirt?

AJ, not sure....I like the look of some pencil skirts, but not all....this one felt bulky...it went back yesterday. I will be looking for a more 40's style navy skirt.
