K/R 2-sided scarf

Santa brought a lovely gift certificate, and I found this reversible scarf. I loved the idea, but as it’s a more expensive accessory, I want to think through this.

Pros: love the navy side, 100% silk, classic, will be a long wearing piece

Cons: not sure I can pull off the violet/red side, it may be too much fabric, will it look dated/frumpy?

Advice? (No stylings in pics, just trying to show color and pattern)

I think it's beautiful, a brilliant idea, and I actually like the purple and red side better than the blue. You van wear a good silk scarf with a jean jacket, a wool coat, or an evening dress. If you injure your arm you can wear it as a sling. Didn't Grace Kelly do that?

I like the red/violet side the best! It’s gorgeous. I can see it working with a range of colors—olive, cream, black. It looks modern and pretty! Love it!

I think it’s great and like other posters I actually really like the red side, I think it’s great with your coloring.

What are the dimensions of the scarf? It looks like maybe 35” square? You might investigate different ways to tie a scarf that size (mai tai’s picture book is a great resource) and see which options you can imagine yourself wearing— that might give you a better idea of its longevity for you.

I would say it is a classic, and not frumpy, nor will be. Good colours. If it helps, I can find a silk scarf a bit, as Angie would say, bossy, so I need to tie them in a way, where I can feel that they are 'neat' when I need to. I would wear it as you have in 1 and 2 and look at other options too.

I would call the scarf classic. There are lots of interesting ways to tie scarves. I like the red side with your colouring.

Classic and elegant. A keeper. I wouldn't worry if you wear only the navy side that you prefer (I love that print too and would probably do the same) ... It still looks very chic to have the other print peeking out from the folds.

gift cards make so critical of what i use them on...wonder why that if, perhaps you are the same?
would you have bought/keep this scarf if you had to spend "real money" on it? is this a scarf something that you would have bought if money was no object?
l like the scarf very much, but if you aren't sure if it, maybe its best to hang on to the gift card until you find something else?

Gretchen-Maybe it’s just what you’re wearing with it, but I prefer the red/pink side! Nothing frumpy about this scarf.
It seems like a good size to play around with different draping/knotting styles.

It's so nice it might be hard to be really truthful with yourself about wether it's something you would actually wear, or is it just something you like.

IF you would wear it, it's an amazing answer, It's beautiful and both sides look great on you. Even if you don't wear both sides up equally, the two sided feature is super interesting.

Thanks all for the feedback, and pro comments on the red/violet. I wear a lot of red, but not usually this vibrant, so this will be a new thing to try.

Kkards and Isabel, thank you. You’re right that if it’s a gift card I feel some more responsibility to “choose wisely” whearas if I’d received this actually as a gift, I would have immediately loved it.

SarahD8, Jane, Smittie and Angie, yes, this will definitely need some tying practice. I like the way it’s tied in the attached find. I didn’t worry about it for these pics as I was just playing with color. The scarf is huge - 54 inches square!

Leaning toward keeping thanks to all your thoughts. Will play with some outfits and ties this weekend before making final call.

I tend to wear a scarf at least 2-3x a week. The scarf you selected is beautiful on both sides. You can wear it over a top or wear it over a coat. I agree that practicing different ways of wearing your scarf will help you make a better decision on whether to keep or return. I think both colors look great on you. I personally am always working on wearing all my scarves/accessories just not my tried and true. That being said I own about 12 scarves and always tend to repeat the same 6. Ask yourself "will this scarf be in heavy rotation or just something I will wear once in a while" Good luck with your decision and you picked a very beautiful item
